 Folks,
 We have discussed quite a bit in the aspect of religions that involved for the society what it meant to shape us now and what it is now. We evaluated a lot of verses written a few thousands years ago, in that context. And we do work hard to understand (interpret) in today's sense. And quite a few things still do make sense.

Here is what I propose to ponder:
What should be the role of religion moving forward?
What should it teach, focus, encourage(discourage)?

Some religions talked salvation(Moksha), some englightenment, etc etc..(but only a few similar ones)

What is should be the purpose?

Moreover, thinking even more radically, is there even a place for religion?

What do you think?

@ALL,
same arguments that have been answered. If there is nothing new, stop trolling.

@Bathroom,
yeah alcohol abuse, smoking, sedentary lifestyle are made by God and thus encouraged.

@Rethink,
You have not read my replies, have you?. And yes there is incest in Christianity. But frankly, not as much as there is in Hinduism. Do research that, i dont really like to cut and paste.  Marriage of cousins also still happen in India. In Hinduism, you get bestiality too. There are many images of men doing it with animals outside hindu temples. Also group sex is encouraged. So next time you do it, please do invite your neighbours, friends etc. So there you have it, your kind of arguments, your kind of logic.
Bonus Info: Google Gosava, a vedic rite.

Good thing about the bible is, it also has the ten commandments to follow.

@Eutaby,
the main reason why people believe in God is because of Cause and Effect.
Let us say you come home and find a nicely made cake. You taste it and it is nice. You thank your mom as she has made the cake. So who made the cake?. Your mom. Your mom is the cause, the cake is the effect. Something does not come from nothing. Nothingness is nothingness, we use our logic and we know. So the Cause is always answered when there is a human involved. Human is the one who applies the knowledge. So you will not ask your mom who made her and asking that also will not make sense. IT is because the Effect has been answered. IT is only when we lack the resource of knowledge applicator, then we have those regress type questions.
There is no proof that something comes out of nothing. The proof is zero. NOTHING.

And it is really amazing that Atheists talk about people doing good just because it is good. You know why?. Because they are the ones who believe in evolution, the ideology which tries to understand values like compassion, self sacrifice, honesty through the RETURN BENEFIT system. So people doing good for the sake of it being good is a religious teaching.
Good values like donating blood, giving up your seat to the elderly have no return benefit.

"I am good to you because you are good to me" VS "pray for those who persecute you". You decide.

I am agnostic in nature and am willing to accept the existence of god(because it doesnt hurt anybody) IF it does not hurt anybody. I have no problem with God but it's his fan club that I cannot stand. Seriously, if you wanna believe , believe and let others believe in the entity or religion of their choice. don't hurt anybody and live in peace. Period!

Freedom 2012, My friend, you answered nothing Just indulge in subjectic discussion. You claimsomething first, we asked for prrof. But you never gave any instead you chnage your logic many times sometime taking credit for for something. when I presentted dat you cleverly jumped from that to another point. It is ok for me. This debate will be read by many in sajha and they will realize how unvalid your logics are.

In other word you are doing harm to yourself and the beleife you suppoert. Because when  readres sees you are unable to produce any proof and instaed you are asking others to produce proof . you claimed something, Then it is your duty to give proof not ours. When I said something I always produce third party proof. Not just my subjective rambling.

By the way how third party prof is produced ? toy faild to understand that point. Someone somewhere said "common sense is not common to all", I beleive him now.
Even if you didnt produce any proof for your claim except for subjective rambling that is still god for me you know why ?
because lots of visitor of this page will be able to see how cleverley you are running away everytime when I produce evidence contrary to your claim. That is already good for me.

@Eutaby,

From the dawn of Human civilization , it had problem of managinf society. Before the development of state, government, there were lots of problem. when states and goverment started to take shape, they had no effective way to guide the society inoeder to get rid of probles of the cociety. One fater other many religions came into existance , some disapperred too.but what about the problem , ? what happened to them?
Problems are still with us, and we are still trying to save the society from various problems. Religions tried almost 3000 years they could not get rid of it, They were ineffective to solve the conflict, instead of calming down the society they started to compeete with each other  , addding more problem to the society.

In this way, religions instead of being part of the solution became part of the problem. I understand there are many other problems which need to be addressed. Religion was supposed to addres thos prolem  but it didnt, It rather added new dimension to already existing conflicts. No one can deny that there are many problems originated because of religion, and these problsm are ever lasting, so if we get rid of religion we will get rid or problems orignated from it.
If different religions were the answer to the problems human civilization faced, they could have solved it long ago. That is why we need to think different way. Religions had their time,

@______,
talk about being the judge jury and executioner!. To your credit, at least you seem to know how to debate, unlike some who seem to be simply trolling. But yours is the most haywire logic i have ever seen and sometimes i wondered if you were drunk while replying.

1)I have proven that ulterior motive for doing good will remain even after removal of religion.

2)I have proven that good values like compassion, self sacrifice cannot be understood and explored from an Atheist (evolution) perspective but needs religion to do so.

3)There is incest in the bible but there is more incest and even bestiality in hinduism. Whereas in the bible, at first it was a means to create humanity and later examples are aberrations, in Hinduism, incest seems to be prescribed in texts. (I did not bring the incest topic up but it was your colleagues who did)

4)I have proven that one becomes religious through his actions. Jesus NEVER talked about killing others, but of compassion and forgiveness. "Pray for those who persecute you". So a Jesus lover will not even dream of killing someone in the name of Jesus.

5)The most egalitarian and meritocratic society is the West. You say it is all a coincidence that they happen to be Christian and XMAS is their public holiday. Using the Father/Son analogy directed at Kiddo bro, I have answered this question why you can attribute goodness to a christian upbringing and society and not evil because Jesus simply does not teach evil.To prove your point, you have to show me a verse which says "Kill all the jews" said by Jesus and taught in the Church. Then i will believe you that Hitler was Jesus lover.

MORE LATER.

 @Freedom: I know you are a man of logic and I do admire your skill. There are;  however, fundmentally wrong ideas that you have in your logics. These are more factual based, and corrections of which will perhaps correct your understanding on a particular religion.

Christianity and Meritocracy: This is a big No No. Did you ever hear about the Dark Ages in Christianity? Excluding a very brief period after the Roman fall, Europe kept degrading for another 1000 yrs in development, science, technology, medicine..you name it....and exactly when the Christianity was in rise. Due to nothing but the Churches' control over people and conflicts among themselves. Recall from your history class, Black Death, Heresies, Flat earth, expelling Gallelio from Padua, 'convert to Christianity or loose your head'...list goes on. Not until the renaissance when people started to breakaway from the Church and deny god. 'L'umo Universale' ..'I am the complete man'..(I do what I want) meaning people were tired of Churches telling them god's will..'do this, don't do this' ..coz god does/n't want this.

Muslims taught Europeans: Europeans were had turned barbarians. Silly Changese Khna was able to conquer part of Europe as they were that powerless and occupied amongst themselves. Later who actually brought a furture was the control of Muslims in Iberian (Spanish) peninsula around 13th/14th century. They were the ones who actually taught Europeans taught about the science, mathmatics, architecture, medicince...the knowlege which would be later used in and after renaissance (explained above).

Crusades: The killings by religions have been covered at length in the previous posts, so will not go in details..but those three crusades that killed scores of people in middle east by Christians strictly in the name of religion doesn't make Christians very peaceful and ultimate bearer of the love...just because NOW they throw some blankets to Pakistanis.

Wealth in Europe: This and in previous posts, your assertion that Christianity helped Europeans become this advanced and rich doesn't solely have to do with they reading those magical chapters in the Bible. Ok? Do you know how much they colonized and got free wealth from around the world? That was a real wealth. Here, though, I do ask myself: Why did they go out while others were still measuring their  आँगन? Here I think the antagony had so much built in Europeans in those 1000 years that they said 'f---- it' to all the superstitions and false comfort. That desperation caused them to be brave and try things 'out' (quite literally).

South American and East Europe: People in these areas are on of the most devout Christians in the world even to this day. And they cannot be called exactly the richest...or any of your adjectives.

Japan: Same principal..just different order..You got my point.

First Democracies: Europeans didn't really invent democracy. Greeks or Iroquois (Indians, who lived around present day New York) had been practicing it a long before...Christianity. Yes, they are practicing it well now for a couple of years. You know why? Becuase the wound is still fresh for them ...the wound of the whole society breaking away from the establishment. So they behave. And I do give them a credit..that they have fully internalized the idea and chose to follow it.

So these are all circumstancial...Even Hindus had it...very well..Muslims...Buddhists...With all due respect, by no means these make Christianity any more special than others.

@ eutaby,
i  have said before that a Christian society has EVOLVED to be a better society. During those times, there was no peace on Earth anywhere. There was politics, greed, etc everywhere during those times. The Crusades were a response to foreign Invaders. The good thing about it is that Christians reflect and regret and have since moved on. I never said things were always hunky dory. I also never said they make a perfect society, what i said was as far as freedom and tolerance is concerned, they are AT PRESENT more exemplary than the others.

@____bro,

6)You gave me KKK, I gave you Shiv Sena. KKK is a minority, Shiv Sena is a majority. Whereas one group;s atrocities gets punished, the other goes scotfree.

7)You asked me Who created God. I told you that question is invalid. Theists do not believe in a created God. It is like asking a happy person why he is sad.

8)You asked me to show you proof of God. I told you that question is not valid. Religion teaches that God is experienced through faith. I gave you an example that in Hinduism, some people meditated for eons to experience God. So God has never been like candy. Religion teaches that God is not bound by the physics that bind you and me. So you ask a question that is totally not related to the concept of God as per religion.  If there is a God, you must have FAITH to experience. This is what religion teaches.

9)You fail to take sociology into consideration. You say Buddha born a Hindu, became a Buddhist. But you forgot that Buddha was still a nice person both ways. Your logic here is retarted. When i talked about upbringing, i was talking about good religion taught values and how they might influence one to be a better human being from a sociological perspective. Yet you equate it with a person's choice to change his religion.

10)About Hitler, have you read his history at all or read the many letters?. You really need to read my father/son analogy again. He was not a Jesus lover.

For all your ignorance, I am NOT Christian. I am an Agnostic Theist. In this thread, i was fighting more for religion, But i will not sit down and tolerate lies about Christianity. I am well read on religion. Despite the many flaws, i support religion. The concept of God is very real.

_____bro,

Christians were also the first to encourage kindness and compassion towards animals.
in 1824, the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (present RSPCA) was formed. It was led by William Wilberforce among others. The same guy who led the movement to abolish the slave trade.

Christians have killed more people than any other faith in the history of mankind. They are the worse when it comes to killing, raping, murdering. Bunch of savages, really.

Freedom arguing with you is like arguing with a simpleton. But it is entertaining to see how a mind of a blind believer works.

You said "And yes there is incest in Christianity. So there you have it, your kind of arguments, your kind of logic."

Do you know what outlier means in statistic? In every religion, there are always a handful of people who do weird things like murder, rape, incest, you name it. But that is in stark difference of the foundation that builds a religion.

Clearly the foundation of christian evolution is based in incest as I have outlined Adam and Eve and their children procreating.

I am not a hindu that I have to defend the acts such as bestiality and orgy that you see pictures of. When people are young and horny, they try out different things and if they walk away from those unscathed then more power to them. I don't think anyone is thinking of religion when they are in the act of copulation. Maybe you think about jesus mary, adam and eve  when you are copulating but life does not have to be about religion to everyone else. You seem to connect everything to religion. Religion is not a necessity, it is a an outlet chosen by those who are not able to cope with their own day to day life, or they grew up with it.

You said if you are rich you don't have to show bank balance it is shown by the way you live your life in mansion and your lamborghini. I agree with you, but as far as your belief in god, it is not evident in the way you are living your life right now. If you blindly follow something that does not prove anything. All we can see about the way you are living your life is all the bull shit you are giving here about your blind faith. It is apparent that you think the evidence of your religious belief is shown by the way you bull shit. All your incongruent analogies and examples show that you are misleading yourself in trying to force your own belief down your own throat.

I don't think anyone else here is impressed with your ability to be reasonable or logical. But, blind believers mostly have a difficult time being reasonable or logical as we all know it.

You said "You asked me Who created God. I told you that question is invalid. Theists do not believe in a created God. It is like asking a happy person why he is sad."

It is so convenient for Theists to argue like a child. You can ask everyone who created you, who created the earth, the heavens, who created life. But as soon as someone asks you who created god, the question itself becomes invalid. How convenient is that!

It's not like asking a happy person why he's sad, but it's like asking a happy person why he's happy, and the person responding that the question is invalid. The question would be invalid if you ask a happy person why he's sad.

 Freedom,
So you are saying, "Right now it looks like Christian world is doing well'

So you agree clear that today's advancement in Europe or America just about have nothing to do with the Christian teaching? If anyone makes these connection, then one doesn't know how the lifecycle of a society evolves.

But I think you agreed finally. Thanks

@Rethink,
more trolling.

@Eutaby,
no i do not agree with you. If you google the contribution of Christianity to Science, Arts, etc, you will realise why. In fact, Christianity not only changed the world for humans, but animals as well.

The first SPCA in the world which was charity based was formed in 1824 by Christians.
In 1825, louis braille invented the braille system for the blind.
 Society hardly cared for the sick and poor, so Christians contributed by opening up hospitals, charity oragnisations eons ago.

I do agree however that people calling themselves Christians have killed people. But it depends on the context you speak. If you mean Atheists and other religion never killed people then i have issue. If you mean they killed in the name of Jesus, i also have issue. If you are talking about the numbers also i have issue.

18fking24.....are you serious? Many other religions started worshiping animals 10 thousands ago and you admire the fact of christians recognizing animal rights 200 years ago. You need some serious help. Like someone said before you have Made up your own reality and logic and rational is too far from your reach.

Hindus started eating meating after Abhramic influence in South India. Before that they did not even know animals could be ate as food.

As for Human beings...christians are responsible for most human massacre so far in the history. They are not just responsible for the massacre but are responsible for wiping out the whole tribe of people. The natives of the Americas, Australia, and some parts of asia were totally wiped out by christians.  Don't forget the murder and rape of 20 million Natives in USA alone by the christians.

Steal the massive land from the natives by murdering all including women and children and kidnap Africans to work for you for hundreds of years and you see that prosperity that has a base of stolen land and forced labor and call that a gift from Jesus Christ. And even try to sell that to the rest of the world that we are prosporous becouse Jesus loves us.

 I am loving this debate,

My dear friend

You justify icest in Christianity because Hindus had it too? Is that a justification. If muslims have some bad practice in their religion , Christians would like to have it too? Is bad practice. So chrsitiany can not lead by example?
Is it ok to justify your wrong doing by saying other do it too?
Is it ok to kill because others kill too?
is it ok to steal because others steal too.

I dont beleive in any religion , so I dont care what other religions had or had not
You claimed Christiany is better religion  but I see Christiany too has all the bad practices other religions had. May be you need to read the Bible once again. May be you need to read the history once again.

Now question about evolving of christianity.
Where in bible it is written that Christianity need to be evoilved? was not it the gods word from the begenning? So you feel they changes the gods word?? then it is not a gods word any more isnt it ?

Could you be kind enough to enlighten me why Christianity needed to evolve ? what was wrong with it ? Why gods word was not enough?
If Christianity needed to evolve from past how do you gurantee that such evolution is for better? may be in another 100 years they will realize that this evolution in Christianty was wrong and they needed another (re)evolution? what is the gurantee that there will be no need of such (re)volution in Christiany once again?

Now about Tollerance in Christianty.
what is tollerance ? let me copy and paste what dictionary says about it

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tolerance

tol·er·ance

 noun \ˈtä-lə-rən(t)s, ˈtäl-rən(t)s\
1
: capacity to endure pain or hardship : endurancefortitude,stamina
2
a : sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own

b : the act of allowing something : toleration
3
: the allowable deviation from a standard; especially : the range of variation permitted in maintaining a specified dimension in machining a piece
4
(1) : the capacity of the body to endure or become less responsive to a substance (as a drug) or a physiological insult especially with repeated use or exposure <developed atolerance to painkillers>also : the immunological state marked by unresponsiveness to a specific antigen (2) : relative capacity of an organism to grow or thrive when subjected to an unfavorable environmental factor

b : the maximum amount of a pesticide residue that may lawfully remain on or in food
How can christian be tolarance if thy dont aceept others beleief ?

I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus in John 14:6.

Is this a tolerant line ?

Not only christianty my friend many other civilization have changed dthe world

1. Most understanding about universe was put forward  by Albert einsteim ,
2. Noble prize was established by  Alfred Noble , I dont have to tell you taht how prestigous is that prize, he was not christian
3. The scientific concept about sex ( one of the most/talked about/written subject till date from the dawn of the civilization Sigmund freud

And chinese four great inventions of  a) Compass  b) gunpowder  c) Paper making  and d) Printing

but you talk about only chritian contribution.

Present day human civilization is contributed by many people, not only christians.

You have "Problems is yours solution is mine"  type of attitude my friend.

So if Atheist killed that means its ok for christian to kill , here you have problem my friend.
Christian have killed in the name of christianity as muslims did in the name of Islam

Christian terrorism

Great Britain

The early modern period in Britain saw religious conflict resulting from the Reformation and the introduction ofProtestant state churches.[6] The Gunpowder Plot was a failed attempt to blow up the Palace of Westminster, theEnglish seat of government. Peter Steinfels characterizes this plot as a notable case of religious terrorism.[7]

Northern Ireland

The Orange Volunteers are a group infamous for carrying out simultaneous terrorist attacks on
Catholic churches.

Prevention of Terrorism Act, John Somerville, and their associates, were dubbed by RUC chief
constable,
Ronnie Flanagan "the demon pastors" – specialising in recounting lurid stor

India

[edit]Tripura and Assam

The National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), a rebel group operating in TripuraNorth-East India, has been described as engaging in terrorist violence motivated by their Christian beliefs.[14]

Norway

In July 2011, Anders Behring Breivik was arrested and charged with terrorism after a car bombing in Oslo and a mass shooting on Utøya island.[40] As a result of his attacks, 151 people were injured, and 77 killed. Hours prior to the events, Breivik released a 1,500 page manifesto detailing that immigrants were undermining Norway's traditional Christian values, and identifying himself as a "Christian crusader".[41] Analyses of his motivations have noted that he did not only display Christian terrorist inclinations, but also had non-religious, right-wing beliefs.[42][43][44] Mark Juergensmeyer and John Mark Reynolds have stated that the events were Christian terrorism,[45][46] whereas Brad Hirschfield has rejected the Christian terrorist label.[47]

For further reading you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism

So Christian have killed in the name of jesus,
I know my friend you will say they were not christian lol

And present day so called civilised society founded by your founding fathers was created by killing its original inhabitants .

Why there is always a debate about abrotion during american election?

Why doctors who perform abosrton are killed , Who kills them? do you know? some of the beleivers are killing docotrs who pereform abortiuon in present day america. Isnt that killing in the name of christianty? you have problem my friend. You can not hide just by saying those are not christians, Find the biography of those killers , they are christian  in the name of christianty.

Like I said in the beginning, nobody's belief is going to change here so much of our discussion will be pointless. I think I am done discussing here.
But I have enjoyed reading some of the comments here.

 Now My friend about animal cruality ,

I know you just pick whichever lines suits your beleife, whithout trying to look at broader picture. This is your problem. You are behaving like a  teen ager. yet to be mature.

Why you only want to see one side of the coin? Or you beleive coins have only one side? My friend for your information let me tell you coins have other side too.
so you picked up How Christianty helped animals and ignored the possibility that christian might have done bad to animals too .

Lets me tell you what Beleivers have done to animals

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentationanimal research, and in vivo testing, is the use of non-human animals in experiments (although some research about animals involves only natural behaviors or pure observation, such as a mouse running a maze or field studies of chimp troops). Worldwide it is estimated that the number of vertebrate animals—from zebrafish to non-human primates—ranges from the tens of millions to more than 100 million used annually.[1] Invertebrates, mice, rats, birds, fish, frogs, and animals not yet weaned are not included in the figures in the United States; one estimate of mice and rats used in the US alone in 2001 was 80 million.[2][3]Most animals are euthanized after being used in an experiment.[4] Sources of laboratory animals vary between countries and species; most animals are purpose-bred, while others are caught in the wild or supplied by dealers who obtain them from auctions andpounds.[5]

Animals have been used repeatedly through the history of biomedical research. The founders,
in 1831, of the
Dublin Zoo—the fourth oldest zoo in Europe, after Vienna, Paris, and London—were
members of the medical profession, interested in studying the animals both while they were alive
and when they were dead.
[19] In the 1880s, Louis Pasteur convincingly demonstrated the germ
theory
 of medicine by inducing anthrax in sheep.[20] In the 1890s, Ivan Pavlov famously used dogs
to describe
classical conditioning.[21] Insulin was first isolated from dogs in 1922, and revolutionized
the treatment of
diabetes.[22] On November 3, 1957, a Soviet dogLaika, became the first of many
animals to orbit the earth. In the 1970s, antibiotic treatments and vaccines for leprosy were
developed using armadillos,
[23] then given to humans.[24] The ability of humans to change the
genetics of animals took a large step forwards in 1974 when Rudolf Jaenisch was able to produce
the first
transgenic mammal, by integrating DNA from the SV40 virus into the genome of mice.[25]
This genetic research progressed rapidly and, in 1996,
Dolly the sheep was born, the first mammal
to be
cloned from an adult cell.[26]

Types of vertebrates used in animal testing in Europe in 2005: a total of 12.1 million animals were used.[47]

Cats and dogs

Cats are most commonly used in neurological research. Over 25,500 cats were used in the U.S. in 2000, around half of whom were used in experiments which, according to the American Anti-Vivisection Society, had the potential to cause "pain and/or distress".[68]

Dogs are widely used in biomedical research, testing, and education — particularly beagles, because they are gentle and easy to handle. They are commonly used as models for human diseases in cardiology, endocrinology, and bone and joint studies, research that tends to be highly invasive, according to the Humane Society of the United States.[69]The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal Welfare Report for 2005 shows that 66,000 dogs were used in USDA-registered facilities in that year.[51] In the U.S., some of the dogs are purpose-bred, while most are supplied by so-called Class B dealers licensed by the USDA to buy animals from auctions, shelters, newspaper ads, and who are sometimes accused of stealing pets.[70]

Non-human primates

Around 65,000 primates are used each year in the U.S. and Europe.

Non-human primates (NHPs) are used in toxicology tests, studies of AIDS and hepatitis, studies of
neurology, behavior and cognition, reproduction, genetics, andxenotransplantation. They are
caught in the wild or purpose-bred. In the U.S. and China, most primates are domestically
purpose-bred, whereas in Europe the majority are imported purpose-bred.[71] Rhesus monkeys,
cynomolgus monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and owl monkeys are imported; around 12,000 to 15,000
monkeys are imported into the U.S. annually.[72] In total, around 70,000 NHPs are used each year
in the United States and European Union.[47][51] Most of the NHPs used aremacaques;[73] but
marmosetsspider monkeys, and squirrel monkeys are also used, and baboons and chimpanzees
are used in the U.S; in 2006 there were 1133 chimpanzees in U.S. primate centers.[74] The first
transgenic primate was produced in 2001, with the development of a method that could introduce
new genes into arhesus macaque.[75] This transgenic technology is now being applied in the
search for a treatment for the genetic disorder Huntington's disease.[76] Notable studies on
non-human primates have been part of the polio vaccine development, and development of Deep
Brain Stimulation
, and their current heaviest non-toxicological use occurs in the monkey AIDS
model, SIV.[7][73][77] In 2008 a proposal to ban all primates experiments in the EU has sparked a
vigorous debate.[78]

Toxicology testing

Toxicology testing, also known as safety testing, is conducted by pharmaceutical companies testing drugs, or by contract animal testing facilities, such as Huntingdon Life Sciences, on behalf of a wide variety of customers.[140]According to 2005 EU figures, around one million animals are used every year in Europe in toxicology tests; which are about 10% of all procedures.[47] According to Nature, 5,000 animals are used for each chemical being tested, with 12,000 needed to test pesticides.[141] The tests are conducted without anesthesia, because interactions between drugscan affect how animals detoxify chemicals, and may interfere with the results.[142][143]

Toxicology tests are used to examine finished products such as pesticides,medicationsfood additives, packing materials, and air freshener, or their chemical ingredients. Most tests involve testing ingredients rather than finished products, but according to BUAV, manufacturers believe these tests overestimate the toxic effects of substances; they therefore repeat the tests using their finished products to obtain a less toxic label.[140]

@Sidster,
pity you link animal rights to praying to cows and being vegetarian.  You really need to do more research on what RSPCA do. You have really got no clue it seems. You said thousands of years before xtianity Hindus already knew about animal rights, Yeah right!. PRESENT day India and Nepal are among the worst culprits of animal rights abuse. Animal sacrifice to Gods still is so rampant.

See my friend, words are all you have, no action. You have no examples to show how your belief changed the society. ZILCH!

@Rethink,
I have already answered all your questions.

@Ashishme,
Christianity has killed the least. You have to do more research.
How many have died in Hindu vs Muslim wars?. There are no proper records.
If you believe in Mahabharat war, do you know how many people were killed?
Atheists have killed more than religion if you exclude the Mahabharat war.

@_____bro,
you are the one who needs to read the bible again. Incest is in the old testament. There was no Jesus then to account for that. Life would not have been possible without procreation. Incest is NOT prescribed in the bible. In hindu texts, incest is prescribed.
The whole purpose of Jesus was to admit the mistakes and the nature of Sin. He acknowledged the presense of Sin in society. He acknowledged our sinful life and that is why he died on the cross for those sins that you talk about.
This is what Christians believe. So stop the lies and instead try to understand Jesus's teachings. Can you show me any verse that encouraged incest?. Can you show me any verse where Jesus told to kill in his name?.
Jesus said "Pray for those who persecute you". This is enough a teaching to prove that Jesus was indeed great.

You give example of terror organisations that are Christian in origin. This is a very political question. I leave it up to you to read about them and why they prefer a struggle and what circumstances led them to do so. Killing another human being is contrary to the teachings of Jesus. Yes people who call themselves Christians can be evil too just like other humans, but in no way would be following the teachings of Jesus. All you have to do is look at the many teachings of Jesus.
