many kudos to the lady.

i wish i was a gas station owner. would have donated at least some every month. but reality is i am a poor grad student but is a member of few wildlife societies and donate $35 every now and then thinking $35 would supply one month ration for a wildlife warden in Africa who is protecting endangered species for us and our future generation.

my heart bleeds for all the unfortunate mothers and may there be more DilShova Shrestha.

only if every person in the world had same heart as Dilshova's, the world would be a better place to live.
i loathe those people who kick their parents outta their home.........i wish all the children would grow up to take care of their parents.

Dear Friends,

This is an appeal to you all to help and support Ms. Dil Sobha Shrestha’s noblest of the noble mission of “service to humanity” in a Briddhashram in Nepal

I had the opportunity to meet and converse with Ms. Dil Sobha Shrestha on May 5 and 7, 2009, in Kathmandu during my recent trip to Nepal.  She won my high admirations during our first meeting because of the great humanitarian deeds she was carrying out.

She has a house in the middle of Kathmandu at Udayabasti Marga near Soaltee Mod, Rabi Bhawan.  Instead of renting it and making some money, she opened her heart and doors of her home to the helpless and destitute single women of Nepal and gave them shelter and food.  These were the women nobody, even their relatives and friends, bothered to take care of.  As a matter of fact, Dil Sobha picked them from the streets, hospitals and even morgues, where they were left to die, or deemed dead.  She gave them a new purpose of life, indeed, by bringing them to her home and providing utmost hospitality.

Dil Sobha currently has 31 single women and two kids at her home.  Most of these women need medical care: one of them is 102 years old.  She and the members of her Briddhashram have been surviving on a meager support she receives from the local businesses: she has no stable source of income.

Dil Sobha is not part of any NGO and she does not incur any overhead or administration cost, because she runs the Briddhashram herself.  It is totally her responsibility to provide food, shelter and medical treatment to the members of the Briddhashram.  I have attached a file containing some pictures at the Briddhashram.  A documentary, featuring her and the Briddhashram, can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/channelnicky and it is entitled “Great Daughter, Dil Shova Shrestha.”

Nepalese Association (NAH), as decided in the monthly meeting on July 18, 2009, has set up a “NAH Briddhashram Fund” in order to support this Briddhashram.  Therefore, I request you to kindly open up you hearts and show your generosity by making contributions to this Fund.  We will update the “Donor List” periodically, and we are looking forward to seeing your name on that list.

Please mail the checks made out to “Nepalese Association of Houston” with a note on the memo as “NAH Briddhashram Fund” to the address:

Nepalese Association of Houston

6776 Southwest Freeway, Suite 450

Houston, TX 77074

Alternatively, you may visit the NAH Web site www.houstonnepalese.org and click on donate in order to contribute using your credit card.

On behalf of NAH, I thank you all for your unflinching support and generous contributions for this noble cause.

Best regards,

Rajendra Shrestha

President, Nepalese Association of Houston
