British gurkhas have now won the right to settle in the UK and I would like to congratulate them even its too late. Gurkhas believe that UK settlement right is good for their children's education and their future. I wonder how true is that ? According to European commision's report that UK's education is one of the worse in Europe and  one in ten UK's 5 year old children cannot write their own name and cannot count up to 20.

According to one of UK's best known newspaper 'the guardian ' one in three 11 years to 16 years old carry knives, drink alcohol and have had sexual intercourse. UK is also known as racist country and support for BNP ( british national party) which is also known as white supermacist is growing.

So dear Gurkhas, think twice before you sell your property in Nepal and move to settle in the UK. speaking english doesnt make your childrens' future better and educated.

hummmm, excuse me georgian_satellite, I completely disagree with the UK's education is worse in EU. UK is best place for university education in the world. Money does matter in UK but you will not get better education than UK. If  EU's report says 1 in 10 UK's 5 year old children can't write name then does it say other EU conutry's 5 year students can write their name and count up to 20?? you can check everywhere in EU most of them are same. It's european educational standard and only selected students go for higher education. It's not really necessary to force all students to work hard. If students don't want to study then don't. There are other work for them.
I agree with knife crimes rates are increasing in UK but I totally disagree with your statement "UK is also known as racist country". Have you ever travelled to european countries ?? And UK?? Please visist some european countries and then write this kind of comments!  

UK is not a racist country.  I dont know where did this satellite got all these facts and figures from . And regarding BNP yeah they won 2 seats but do you know their overall votes actually decreased compared to 2005 election . UK is a very tolerant and welcoming society. Many culture people live in UK in harmony. Yeah  if you live in some village or some ghetto you may find racist people.  But you always konw in which places racist people live and can avoid

Regarding UK education, true it may not be great for upto 5-10 years old compared to Nepal because there is not so much pressure.  But it is same for all.   But at university level it is almost unparallel. Out of  100-200 UK university you can see many of them in world's top ranking .  Plus being Gurkha they can get very cheap education  . In school level it is free, at university level it is next to nothing compared to the international students.  Plus free medical. Imagine if you fall sick in US or in Nepal you can lose thousands of dollars in medicine. Medical price can completely shatter life in other country.

UK is a racist country. Several years back, riots broke out and the targets were asians. and UK's education is not the best if not worse.

i have plenty of relatives in UK and i hear youngsters are into drugs and street fights. education is NIL. even my mama's and kaka's regret their decision in joining British army. while i worked hard and very close in achieving the highest academic degree. they are proud of me along with my parents and says - we wish our offsprings were like you.

about Europe education, i have met few who got their master's and Phds from France etc and they told me, they don't have to take any classes, just research which is also mostly aided by advisors. while here, we have to take required classes and conduct research.

So, make the best out of your US education as the saying goes - make the hay the sun is shining.

as for British's arnies sons and daughters - they will be confused generation of Nepalese just like ABCD  (American Born Confused Deshis) dhotis if the parents do not guide them strictly.

But the university i got offer and the kind of subject i was offered there was no thinking back.  Many of my friends are doint PhD . Whats your problem . Come here and I show you top and well educated nepalese.  Its unfortunate your relatives , nephew niece turned out to be durggist and carry knief. I would blame your relative fo that.

By the way , I have plenty of relatives in US and they say the youngsters carry guns and take drugs. There are several incidence of killings. Enough said.

Nepalese le gun carry nagare 4-5 nepalese  died last year in US by Guns.  Say that is wrong too??  Should i come to conclusion that in US there is always gunfire , people can easily carry guns, gun crime is there? And I have heard many many nepalese are living there illegally too. So should i believe nepalese aer illegals there?

The gurkha children I know she recently completed her masters' and planning to PhD.  If your relative cannot control your nephew , niece than it is there fault.  Those who are good never come in news.


Nepalese who go to US mainly go for study.  Gurkha who come to UK mainly come for settlement. What;s wrong.  If Nepalese have easy access to US, many will go there merely to settle not to study. So don't expect allt he gurkha children to study. They are not here for study. Many come for settlement and not for study. Despite that a lot of them have done commendly well.

And its funny that you say that you have to take classes in PhD so that it is better than european. What kind of a logic is that? Yeah we dont' have to take classes. So what? 

PhD is a research based. You need to submit progress reports regularly, attend conferences, seminiars do an indpenedent studies. YOu are given all the facilities, softwares, equipments. You are also provided with all the fundings should you need any software or any training.  

I can't see the logic behind your explanation that  you take classes in PhD and that is better.

i am gurkha and almost joined the army. was in pokhara. but changed my mind and took the path of education.

i admire for what they did in WWI and II but i didn't the way they raised their kids. i always had problem with that - gurkhas made the most affluent society in Nepal and their kids had all the oppotunities in the world to explore but no - they did not. instead they are the laughing stock of our society.

accidents happens everywhere. yes, i agree nepalese were killed in the past few years but tell me doesn't people get killed everyday everywhere by disease, by war etc.

about illegals - u don't even even know the simple law of world nations. European and GULF countries and some asian countries are tough on illegal immigrants. they will be after u when ur visa gets expired but here until and unless u break the law such as killing someone etc, then u will be deported but not after going through legal processes. some get out in bail and some go. but in UK it is deportation straight away - meaning US was built by immigrants and people will take advantage of its lsightly lax laws. you would too bro

Forget all explanation. Do you have any proper reason why gurkha shouldnot come to UK?  Do you think people in Uk are druggist and carry knief?  Do you think the education here is s*** and they take 13-14000 pound a year from International student without providing any education?  Do you think UK charges loads of money when one gets sick? Do you think it is better to study in US University by paying 15-20000 dollars per year  than UK university by paying 4-5000 dollars per year (for british gurkha student) staying with the family and parents which would cut their living expenses.

I want gukha student to come here in UK because they will simply be paying at home student fees. In US they have to pay at an overseas student fees.


Well almost every subjects is with computers. But my part also involves hardware. But I design part of satellites. Mainly RF and communications. There are other fields like propulsion, rotation and stablilite etc of satellites.   I am not concerned about that . And my thesis will be a collection of different sort of ideas in RF and communications. I come to the new idea after reading several conference and journal papers..

For me to graduate I need to submit at least  5-6 conference papers and 2 journal papers in a reputed magzine related to my field.

Dear chhimobu, yes I have been in the UK and I have visited london to Cardiff, Hampshire to Gloustershire, Wiltshire to Yorkshire and I can tell you racism is the big problem in the UK. If you dont believe me how racism is crippling UK's reputation please visit UK's any city center at night how the drunk will shout at you because of your foreign look.

UK is definitely a decaying power and just clinging on the property they collected during colonial era. UK seems to have struggling to keep their status-quo and chasing after america but the time is running out and they are lagging far behind.

And finally, ask any british under their 30s about Gurkha they have no idea whatsoever, they simply call you " bloody foreigner" however, older generation know who Gurkhas are and they are proud to have them as a part of their MOD military of defence.

I don't know which area you have been. I certainly have had no problem of racism in 6 years. And another thing about mentality you would not get such a respectful persons in the world world like an educated white british.  You can always determine what is high class and rich british and what is low class mostly living in ghetto.

I am still not buying your words about british. I think you lived ina wrong neighbourhood thats it.  I have friends from few coutnries who lived in several places in Europe and in UK. They say UK is the most welcoming and tolerant society. I myself belive in that.  UK has very good security system compared to US because UK is a small country and government can provide protection more easily.  Plus UK don't have gun crime like in US.  Add to that medicine in UK is free. US can rip you apart when you get sick. My friend got sick in US and the insurance company somehow tried to avoid paying his medical by delibratly finding some ground. In UK at least you don't have to worry about medical.

Dear no_quiero, as a ordinary Nepalese I could not afford to stay in Chelsea or Poole Bournemouth, ofcourse I did stay in plum stead in London and other areas where ordinary working class nepalese live. To be very honest with you I do not compare myself to those highly educated british nor I do to those pepole like Sir Alan, dragons of the den and those footballers.

Rightly or wrongly you said may be I lived in ghetto during my visit to UK but as a student I am sure that you dont live to those places where highly paid footballers and businessmen live. In term of security you guareented that UK is small country and can provide security but where is the proof ? do you know almost everyday threre is one fatality of knife crime in london ? do you know even one of  HARRY POTTER co-star was stabbed to death last year ?
