Hello there,

First and foremost I don’t think that most of the people here from Nepal are satisfied at all. The first big reason is that we are not with our loved once.. which means for us parents matter than anything else.. No matter how Americanized we would be, each and every time we meet other people we have to prove which country we belong to. As for do I regret or not.. I don’t.. coz if u regret for what you have chosen then its simply giving up. And I don’t believe that’s their in Nepalese blood. We are known for our fighting spirit. So, never give up. Its true that we Nepali people don’t want to be that socialized with other Nepal people coz they first thing we start with is asking personal information. Which is very wrong!!  One shouldn’t be like that.

Well,  I see that you have a lack of planning in your life. Be clear to your goals. If u want to stay in this country then set your mind. Or else if u think that you can make change in our country then focus in your studies and get back home.. as for not completing you studies until not its no one to blame but you. Coz its all up to you. I don’t know in which state are you in but here in Boston, there are some reasonable college and you can find jobs easily. Transportation facilities are very good. And I have seen myself many stds have completed their studies and now working for a good company. And you might think that at this period of time how come one gets good. Its true that its have to find a job but their many company which are hiring in this condition as well. They don’t sponsor for your H1 but still u can work for a year and get back for your masters or get back to the home country..

Well, I think that I over wrote here. Anyways all the very best for your future ahead.

cheers

 sajhakhohero bro,

Based on your English you should choose China or any other non-English speaking country.

Thank you.

Hey Sajhakhohero,

First of all, thanks for leaving a comment on my post. Hmm, I am not gonna be able to give you advice on which country to go for further studies or to work cause I am also very confused myself. Sorry about that. I hope you will able to get in touch with people abroad who are doing well.

Tea is not called coffee in America. Tea and coffee is totally different. Tea comes from leaves and coffee comes from coffee beans. And about green tea, it is not only popular with asians but also popular with other races. I believe it is because of the health benefits of it but personally I dont like the taste.

Best,

Crystal.

i heard can work in petrol pump cause many petrol pump job is available.

also dhoti_prasad thanks you for the advice.
But dhoti bhaiya i heard heard americanoes do not SPEAK english either.
They Speak and Write Americans which i heard is NOT english.
example,  in america left is right, and right is left, referigrator is freezer...etc
so why you say i should go to other non-english  talking country.?

crystal so do you drink tea in usa? i heard usa not selling tea only coffee.
is it true. They say you drink tea you become a traitor or something like that.

skh

I don't really want to boast but I don't like the negativity flowing in this thread. Let me say this: One of the best decisions I made in my life is to come to US for my college education. First of all, the only reason anyone should come for college education is if you do pretty well in high school and manage to get full scholarship to a decent college in US.

Most Nepalis who come to study in US not only deplete their parents fund but also attend colleges where they are not really getting the education for their money. The school I graduated from gave full scholarship based on need to many international students. Of course, it was very selective as well. My parents paid for my flight and a semester of personal expenses. I never had to work in a gas station, though I did work on campus. My college funded approximately 30-35K a year for me just to study there. Most top universities will give you money if they think you are worth it. It wasn't hard for me to secure a job and I have seen many Nepali students in similar situation who into good schools and have fared pretty well. Bottom line, I am happy with my decision.

Moral of what I am trying to say is: Don't come to US just because that's what everyone is doing. If I hadn't got a 100% scholarship, why would I want to kill my parents retirement savings to fund my education? It's morally wrong! I am surprised to see 11000 nepali students coming to US every year only to work illegally in gas stations. And it is exactly those people who say getting a US visa is a matter of luck. Enough ranting, I can already see the rage fueling.

Damn you're right about the rage fueling. A volcano just errupted in Jupiter (remember Cha-Cha Chowdhary? and Sabu).

I think everyone who came here did the right thing. Life is about the journey, not spend half of it thinking what you want to do and how you want to do it.

You might have gotten an elite education at a private university (I'm jealous, yes) but you also have no experience when it comes to mundane things such as managing a gas station. It may not be the appealing job, but you definitely end up picking valuable life saving skills like how to deal with difficult people, how to haggle, how to be rude in order to save something precious. You go in a pussy, you come out a lion.

You learn about defending yourself in today's cruel age.

Hey JediMaster,

Am glad that you are doing well in US. And hope you will always do well.

Eventhough you talked about not killing your parents' savings and all, I dont know why I still get this feeling that you have parents who do well back home. You know, in terms of money. So even if you are struggling here, it is not gonna be a problem cause they can just wire some money over. Period.

Money makes a lot of difference in life.

Best,

Crystal

Life in USA has security with insecurity everywhere.

Yes, don't come to USA without scholarship. If you are even little smart, these third tier universities will give you some kind of scholarship. You just have to do research. The saying "You have to be at the right place at the right time to go everything right". Luck and your effort both is required to be successful.

I agree :

[ "It may not be the appealing job, but you definitely end up picking valuable life saving skills like how to deal with difficult people, how to haggle, how to be rude in order to save something precious. You go in a pussy, you come out a lion. " ]

I have seen some smart ass guys who never worked during their studies or some USMLE doctors and boy they can't order a sandwich and even hesitate to return goods at Walmart..

having said that the lower paying jobs may not be best ones that u gotta to do but they have their own benefits..I appreciate it coz I do it..

Life sucks at US but I think in the end all these struggles would payoff..
