If you quit, they cant do shit. Also you cannot be sued on Phone. You have to be served on person. They threaten everyone with vague threats hoping that people settle outside. Nepalese as well as Indians have settelled for $10-20K ( lol, why) with the consultancies. But do not panic, tell them you quit.

They can definitely sue you to compensate the amount they invested in you like course training and accommodations ( if you used their place to stay and eat). But it is very unlikely that they will do it because these business are too shady. To be honest, your friend can actually sue them for decent amount of money by showing emotional damage as they sent him/her to the client with fake details , getting him fired and keeping him/her into pressure to use fake resume/details and force him/her to work for position that you are not even qualified for.

Just get a lawyer apply for u Visa make ur gc and fk em up..no one can sue you for not doing illegal stuff in any court of this world..only communicate via email. Just trying to bully you. If your position is strong and not wrong and have a strong verbal ability you can challenge them to counter sue. Coz they are shady and if you can provide a paper trail (that they sent you to work modifying your name and knowingly), they will pee their pants if you make a strong point even over the phone.
Your weakest position seems like : you are a student and want a stable status and job.

If you think you are ready and able to pick a verbal fight go for it, but prepare. If you think its not worth it move on. Record if they or their lawyer calls you. Build a position and argument and negotiate as your situation seems fit.
