I am neither surprised nor amused to read King Gyanendra's message to his countrymen about signing of the peace accord because i truly expected this to happen. The monarchs in Nepal has displayed and proved time and again that they are the only true leaders in Nepal who works solely for the well being of the country without any arrogant and hard feeling of the past. They are more patriotic than any other leaders and loves their country and work for the betterment of the people than any other NC, UML, RPP or Maoist leaders. King Gyanendra took the power on Feb 1, 2005 with an intention of bringing peace to a country, and gave away his power with an intention of bringing peace in the country. He is a lot better than any other leader because he did not take the issue as an ego problem and had no arrogant of being a King, that he was. If you are able to understand the whole scenario, you will be able to realize, the biggest contributor to this accord is King Gyanendra himself. He was the only democratic leader in Nepal after Girija Prasad Koirala (in his currect form) who allowed opponent's voice to come even during his direct rule. Can you imagine protesting against Prachanda without being afraid of personal harm. Give me a name of single leader who will give away all his power for the sake of peace and well being, at the cost of 20 lives (a majority of them were through baton charge used to maintain law and order but not bullets). Do you think, even Girija will do it or Prachanda will, but Gyanendra did. A leader may fail in his objective as he is also a human but a failure does not make him/her a bad leader. A leader becomes a true leader by his intention and in the manner and grace he faces the failure and use the failure for the betterment of all society. I believe, King Gyanendra was true in his intention and gave way for peace and prosporous Nepal when he decided he failed in his objective. My respect for King Gyanendra has increased. Long live the King. Long live Nepal.

Deshbhakta ji...I still believe that Powerless king+Armless maoist+improved leaders=peace and development of Nepal...

But do not believe that this king has done any good for the country...How can you praise a man who holds alomost all business in his name, more than 50000 Ropani lands in his family's name...who transferred Nabil's bank share equivalent to 70 million into his daughter's name from Birendra and Dipendra's name once they were killed...he and paras do not deserve well treat from Nepalese people but for power balance and to avoid any bloodshed in country in future...Monarchy has to be there in Nepal just as an institution...

Dear HI_nanu,
let me answer your questions one at a time.
How can you praise a man who holds almost all business in his name and more than 50000 Ropani lands in his family's name ?
Answer: First of all, he wasn't a King 5 years ago. He was a businessman then. He conducted business more successfully than any other governement owned entities. And I still believe, establishing industries in Nepal and creating job opportunities in Mother land is alot better than depositing money in foreign banks and forcing poor Nepali work in Qatar, Malaysia and UAE. Regarding the land owned by him and his family, does it matter if Nagarjun Hill or Gorkha Darwar is in name of King Gyanendra or Public Trust when all the individual coming to the place are allowed and it serves as tourist interst. I believe you will agree that these location are more safer and are well managed than other location currently controlled by Nepal government. So, this accusation are merely rhetoric alligation pushed by political leaders to portray themself more clealerthan they really are.

Transfering of property of King Birendra's family??
Answer: If you die, according to law in Nepal, your property will get transfered to your Son (currently, i guess even daughter if she is unmarried upto a certain age), and then to your closest immediate family. The property owned by King Birendra simply got transfered to King Gyanendra simply because he was the closest family member alive after royal massacre. Whats so much fuss about it? If you don't like it, simply change the rule regarding property inheritance. But these political leaders will not do that as they fear it may offence the students base they have.

Deshbhakata ji...I don't want to be offesnsive here but I am not satisfied with your answers and with due respects to your personnel viewwould like to produce my two cents here...

I understand,he was not king five years ago and was in business...I don't understand how he gathered such a huge properties when every business was in loss in last 10-15 years..(Isn't it something like Khorsani Maila claming his son earned big money from travel agency during deterioting tourist environment)...Ok even if he made money from the business...he could do some philanthropic investment once he became king...he could use those money for the betterment of people of Nepal...Do you remember how many percentage of royal expenses increased when he started to rule the country?...

second part of your answer..

Why didn't he transfer those shares to kid of Shruti instead of transferring those shares of Nabil bank to Prerana?

he could not become a king,he just enjoyed to be a businessman...

He was the leader of the underground mafia in Nepal and was involved in many bomb scandals. Since he was above law it was never investigated. If he could he would take everything on his own which he tried. Now, after him losing everything praising his actions as benevolent is the most ludicrous thing that could happen after peace accord.

Congratulations for you accomplishment anyway...

I couldn't agree more with what deshbhaktanepali said. The rage against the King is not build upon what he has done... but rather build upon how the media portrays him. People don't "hate" king because of whatever he has done.. they hate king because everyone else hates him. Nepalese are used to this kind of streak with examples of Rhitik kanda, Iraq kanda, etc.
Arko, the source is http://www.ekantipur.com

Long live the king, the nepalese people, the true nepali political leaders and fu Jai Nepal

If it has never been invistaged, how do you know he did it? Be rational brother. You can't just point fingers at someone because "you think" it is true.

Jai nepal

Correction: I am not saying the king is mahan.. is he the greatest king or whatever.. i am just saying that you cannot blame the king for what nepal is(Was) going through right now. I know the king didin't do much, as he was suppose to.
BUt do we agree that he took absolute power because he though he could bring peace to the country and punish the curropt leaders? Again, i agree he didnt do what he was suppose to.. the only thing he did was go on a tour to different part of the country and nod his phucking head.
However, he was not a notorious king. He wanted to help.. but the deprived leaders and the money fed people didn't let him. Had everyone cooperated with what he wanted to do without blindly rioting on the streets ok ktm, Nepal would have seen this day a long time ago.

I am amazed at the views and shortsightedness of educated person like 'Hi_nanu' and 'arko' who are so easily swayed away by emotions rather than logic. If King Gyanendra is alleged for ploting bombs, what about the people you are praising currently who have been proved for plotting bombs and plane hijaking. Please, guys give me a break. After killing of 15000 innocent men and women in the name of sacrifice and matrys you coming with a peace accord (still it is not sure if that it will be followed by the signatories parties), and you are putting the blame on someone who is not responsible for anyone of those deaths. Army was put into play by the government of Nepal, not King. Operations like Kilo-sera-2 concucted by political leaders but not the King.

Deshbhakataji...Please let me clear...Neither I am blaming king nor supporting Maoist or any corrupt leaders...

If I were blaming king,I would not have said that:

Powerless King+Armless Maoist+Improved leader=Peace and Better Nepal

And everybody knows about Maoist atrocities...

People will definitely vote against them...(Forgive them, but forget not)

But you guys tell me...how can we praise this king? What has he done so far for the betterment of the country other than rulling the country in advise of "MOOSA(KAMAL THAPA)..."

I was happy about the King's accord. He doesnot have any ego about the power loss. it is a sign of true leader, no matter he tried to do for people's movement in april. What about NC, UML, maoist.. were they the true leader. They started whole problem by themselves, we suffered and now peace. What the hell..... I agree that king went on some wrong move on feb 25 2005 and he lasted for 14 months. On the other hand, these monkeys ( politican) made us suffer for 13 years.

I never believe in what the king said. We have heard such message from the king after every success of movement, after the 2007 revolution, 2046 people's movement and this time as well. But, every message was followed by a conspiracy against nepalese people like 2017, 2059 and so on. The startegy of the palace for now is just wait and see. He is being a republican monarch , thats it.
Now its up to us whether to believe or not if a lion promises not to kill a deer.

I am not praising any party leaders but since Kings for the last twelve generations had free reign over the country, national treasury and army they should be responsible what caused downward mobility in Nepalis people's life. All the property he has amassed is without paying taxes, duties and so on. In accurate terms, it is by exploiting people and being above law. Whoever licked his butt became vice president even when he had to be brought to the country from hiding abroad by defaulting loan. Who spoke against him were arrested under the house and ordinary people were disappeared. There is hardly any difference between Maoists and King. Both are autai dyangka mula. If Maoists killed 13000 (half or more is by then RNA) people, it's the King who gave birth to Maoists and caused all this conflict. If he is a true leader, why can't he step aside now and declare Nepal a republic. That will be eight wonder of the world. Still, I would like to see it.
