Best things in life are FREE.

A mother's love.
A lover's embrace.
Clean, crisp air in the Annapurna region.

And Sajha.com

That is why, as you do for your public radio stations, community museums, public libraries, and other non-profit entities that add to the quality of your life, why not
take a moment to add Sajha to your "must give presents to in this festive season
this year" list?

Give what you think is reasonable.
Give from the heart.

Give on your own -- any amount will do, yes, any amount.
Give liberally.

Give for the continuous upkeep and betterment of Sajha's IT-related infrastruture.
Give to get enjoyment.

Give as a member of this community.

Give.

Here's a message from the Web Master -- San -- that I think is worth
amplifying:

****
"Where else do you find FREE Nepal related entertainment and information like in sajha? As you can imagine, there are costs associated with maintaining a site as big as this. Be it in bringing state of the art chat servers or be it in granting access to high speed internet connection with the most upto date servers to keep your sajha experience fast, fun and continuous, sajha has always been there 24/7.

I have been informed that because of steep bandwidth consumption, the cost of hosting sajha is going to be higher than before.

Would you like to make a little contribution to show your support for the site and to ensure that the site is able to continue its services to provide you with a sajha cyber chautari where you can discuss, learn and enjoy at any time? If you spend a lot of time in sajha, and if sajha has provided you entertainment and valuable information, then now is the time to show your support to sajha.

Best things in life are free.

Your generosity will help make Sajha free for you, your friends and thousands more Nepalis who have yet to discover it in months and years ahead.

Thank you.

I am not sure whether Sajha has the critical mass or even the logistics to be registered as a charitable organisation at this point. For now, I would think that voluntarily charitable contributions to Sajha is of relevance rather than any officially
charitable status of Sajha.

So, give what you can.
This is NOT some (registered) NGO, yet.

Question: How does one classify contributions where the contributor does not want his name to appear on the donor list but still goes ahead and makes a public announcement that he (whose real identity is known) has given [money]?

Answer: Nepenymous :-)

If one did not want to have his name displayed in the LIST for some reason, yet wanted to say a word or two to encourage others and did exactly he wanted, should I have a problem with that ?

Of course, I should. How can I make the whole damn thing fit into a word I want to put in his mouth ? No ? ;-)

Nepeda hmmm sorry to say this, but what you did this time was not a wise thing... anonymity means anonymity. :P

Ladyinred,

CORRECTION 1:

I have NEVER been NOR I am ever going to be one of the administrators of this site.
I am -- and this can be incredibly hard to believe for some of you out there -- just
a visitor here, yes, just a visitor here, who enjoys posting stuff to share ideas, knowledge and information when I am some spare time.

Tetti ho.

CORRECTION 2:

Those who have followed my cyber-postings for a long time (since 1993, but who's counting?) know that I have always called a spade a spade, and have always refused
to describe it as a "manual ferrous-wooden convex excavator".

That is why, NOT being an inauthentic person suits me just fine -- on and off
Sajha.

Other than that, THANK YOU for your contribution to Sajha.

If you want donation, first of all Please Disclose all current financial information like Cost, Expenses and Revenes generated by Ads, donations etc.

Only then I can think of giving donation..

Max,

I have no clue about the revenue collected through advertisements, but the cost of keeping sajha alive is worth a million.....as long as donation is concerned....money alone can fulfill only a microscopic amount...the rest is done by goodwill....

did it ring a bell?????

Max,

Nice points.

But some clarification, first.

Nobody here WANTS donations per se.
Nobody here is getting down on the knees and begging with clasped hands, "oh,
please give, give, give."

Yes, there are reminders here, but they are just that: friendly reminders for like-minded folks. Nothing more than that.

What they are saying -- collectively -- is this:

QUOTE: If you spend a lot of time in sajha, and if sajha has provided you entertainment and valuable information, then now is the time to show your support to sajha UNQUOTE.

With that reminder, ask yourself; look into your own eyes, and think for your own self.
If you honestly think that Sajha has REDUCED the quality of your life and has harmed you in any way, then, do NOT give it a dime. Nobody will say anything to you.

If, however, you AGREE that Sajha has been of help to you, then, consider giving anything from 1 dollar to 100 dollars to more to show your appreciation and to help pay for some expenses here and there.

That's all.

Either way, YOU and ONLY YOU make your own decision based on the value (entertainment-wise and information-wise and contact-wise) you think Sajha
has added to your life. This is strictly a VOLUNTARY decision and action.

Another spin by Nepali version of Carl Rove and Bill O'Reily - a composite! Put a spin, attack without seeming to attack! That is our problem we put out a friendly reminder to donate but but we don't want to call it a donation. We ask for financial help but we don't want to provide any information as to how much is needed. Let's call a spade a spade ... call donation a donation!! This reminds me of George Bush calling QUOTE: inheritance taxn UNQUOTE a QUOTE death tax UNQUOTE.

spin spin spin!!

Lobhee Lalpari
I do not think this site is a non profit organization that has budgets or it needs to show financial information publicly. The site needs money for hosting and the site admin is asking for contributions from those who feel they would like to support the site. I am sure it requires lot of work besides the money for hosting. If you don't want to send it for hosting cost, then send it as your support for the admin for maintaining it.

If you want to send some support out of your free will send it, if not then noone's begging for it.It has been a great way to keep in touch with nepalis around the world and feel a part of nepali community. I will sending my contribution too. Admin check your paypal.

Murkha Bidwan... (sorry I could not resist, after all you call me lobhee) I will bet you I donate more money and time to the benefit of Nepali children in Nepal than you do... not that, that is really important here. I don't know San but I do know people that know him and he is an honest person. With that said, in my humble opinion DONATION without all the tangible financial facts could potentially lead to issues. Pushkar Shah is asking for money and we all know his antics!! BTW the money donated to Sajha ... is that taxable to Sajha? I mean does Sajha claim that as it's income?

Eh Lobhee who cares if there is tax or not. If you want to give, give, if you don't want to give then just shut the fukk up and go your way. No need for your stupid questions. I give because sajha has been good source of information and entertainment for me and I hope to see it running as long as possible.
