From the current issue of Foreign Policy magazine.

The Globalization Index
By FOREIGN POLICY & A.T. Kearney

November/December 2006

It’s a small world, and globalization is making it smaller, even in the face of conflict and chaos. For the sixth year, FP, in collaboration with A.T. Kearney, sorts out globalization’s winners and losers. Find out which countries come out on top and which ones are falling behind.

Recent months have offered plenty of fresh evidence that the world is falling apart. Conflict in the Middle East, a nuclear stalemate between Iran and the West, perilously high oil prices, and the collapse of the Doha round of global trade talks all suggest a world that has gone off the rails. In this volatile environment, isolation has a powerful appeal.

Why should states bind themselves more firmly to such an unstable political and economic order? Why would they willingly court greater reliance on foreign producers and politicians? Why, in short, should they want globalization?

Part of the answer is that the daily headlines that report each new crisis or conflict miss the gradual but often profound currents of global integration that lurk beneath the surface. Fractious though the world may be, globalization still has much to offer, and a momentum of its own. The annual A.T. Kearney/FOREIGN POLICY Globalization Index examines the underlying international trends that reveal whether the world’s leading nations are becoming more or less globally connected.

afu lai ta "globalization" vanyo ki ...tyo diana ko accident wala joke ko yaad po aaucha ta :P

Here is it...

Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?

Answer: Princess Diana’s death.

Question: How come?

Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before you change the spelling) followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles; treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines. This is sent to you by a NEPALI, using Bill Gates’s technology, and you’re probably reading this on your computer, that use Taiwanese chips, and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian lorry-drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, and trucked to you by Mexican illegals.....

That, my friends, is Globalization!!

:D

Thapap - Don't rely solely on the prognosis of online resources - seeing someone might be a good idea, wouldn't you agree?

don't worry thapap jiu, i'm not happy about your color blindness...it was just my gesture to continue the previous sentence :P

and i don't think it's a major problem ke and it doesn't get worse with age. most obvious cause for color blindness is genetic. and you can obviously differentiate between red and green hoina? teti bhaye pugi halyo ni drive garna :D

wipe off your tears :( nobody's perfect...

captain, why waste time and money going to doc? many people are color blind and it's not even a problem...

Sajhauser - to confirm, get a second opinion, to determine the extent and degree of the condition, since you may need to change driving habits. I'd say it's well worth the time and the doctors fees. But yeah, it's not the end of the world.

Just my opinion.
