Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station is located near New Jersey’s shoreline in an area forecast to take a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy: “The current ‘track center’ for the landfall path is central New Jersey pointing Sandy in a path that would hit Oyster Creek nuclear station.” -SimplyInfo

Some news reports appear to discount the threat to Oyster Creek because the reactor is shut down for refueling.

Nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen said in a recent podcast that the fuel pools — not just the reactors themselves — are at risk from Hurricane Sandy: Gundersen: If power lost, only plan is to let spent fuel pools heat up… no generators to pump in water (AUDIO)

With Oyster Creek shut down for refueling starting last week, hot fuel may have been placed in the fuel pool quite recently.

The unit at Oyster Creek is the same as [Disallowed String for - Bad word 'fuk']ushima Daiichi No. 1: “Oyster Creek is one of the oldest US nuclear plants and is the same design as [Disallowed String for - Bad word 'fuk']ushima unit 1.” -SimplyInfo

It is reported that last year Japanese Tsunami killed almost 20% of entire population in certain cities. Later it's reported those hundreds of survivors who were interviewed said they underestimated the evacuation notice or they didn't understand the threat.

I m at work now. Talked to some customers (khaires) and they seems easy with this . One was saying Nothing goona happen ;they are just acting weird because 2 year before when there was big snow; NY was not prepared and they were critised for that. So they are just showing everybody that they are prepared.
Another was like I dont care this things ; just let them go. (Typical NY attitude) .
Mta suspend trains and buses so only cabs are option for ride.

They said it would hit on sunday and now its already monday and nothing yet.
Even the office is closed.

Too much talk making a greater impact than the actual storm.
