I've already seen the link and I know it shows them as having no medals ever but some people I know are insisting that Nepal has won bronze at something, so maybe no one has bothered to update the medal tally for Nepal.

Yes and No.  Bidhan Lama won bronze in the Seoul olympics in 1988 . unfortunately in that year taekwando was an exhibition game. So in reality Nepal have never won a medal in olympics in offical games.

Surprisingly, Nepal have won one medal in Olympics.

Its from my memory.

Medal Winner - Bidhan Lama
Event - Martial Arts (may be taekwakdo or judo)
Medal Won - Bronze
It was held in Asia (probably japan)
He got the medal for reaching the semis and loosing. As the loosers of semis in martial art gets bronze, he got one too.
However, he is not included in the official medal tally due to some reason.

Gyaanguru got it right.

By the way, I'm not sure how many people are aware of about this fact but in 1972 Munich Olympics, Nepali Marathon runner, Jeet Bahadur, was leading the race until 32 km mark ( the race is 42 km long ) but he had to abandon his race due to cramp muscle.

As it stands, Jeet Bahadur is the only Nepali athlete in the history of Olympics to have reached a position to win an Olympics medal.

I also few bells ringing about Jeet Bahadur, but not very sure of his bad luck....
Few people even talked about Baikunth Manandhar, but I m sure he wasnt ever near to the podium finish at Olympics. He does hold the record for South Asian Games.

I did a little bit of research on Jeet Bahadur earlier and found out that German National TV actually had declared him a winner in Marathon event before he abandoned his race.

Only 8 Sarkozy. India are powerhouses in Asian Circuit ( think they're ranked 5th in Asian Games all time medals count ) but when it comes to Olympics, they're totally non-existent and believe it or not, most of India's gold medals came from Hockey, a sport that they dominated for decades in the Olympics.

Lol. This time around indian hockey team didn't even qualified for the olympics. All their hopes rest in Rajyabardhan rathod who was in shooting i think and won silver medal last time.

I presonally think  Australia are the best sporting team in the world when you look at their population.  Australia have population less then nepal but in last olympic they won about 17 gold medals. That is awsome.

I also think , india should be ashamed of themselves.  With a population of over one billion they always have almost nothing to show.

What you fail to see is India's ethnocentricity towards the rest of the world. The matter of Olympic is a pride in every country, but not to the Indians. They really don't care about thing that does not involve cricket. I saw a clip where an Indian woman was going through a rough time to get a descent place to practise ping pong for this Olympics. Come on, it does not take any space at all. They literally do not care but they do have a olympic committee. Eventaully they will face the reality one day. They think IT industry is the only thing to be proud of.

Effigy burning will be dominated by South Asians but as far as stone throwing and vandalism is concerned, Nepal will clearly overshadow other competitors.
