Although the painter of this picture, Salvador Dali had differnt intentions, there is a common perception that the "old man" on the left is dying... but the "egg" or the "flower" on the left represents 're-birth'.... people die.. and they are born again...

The first picture won the Pulitzer prize (sometime back in the 90's???)

As far as I know, the theme of the picture is s.t. like "waiting for food". The child is crawling towards the UN office where they distribute food (not shown in the picture of course). And the vulture is waiting for the kid to die (remember it does not eat alive human flesh) so that it can have something to eat.

I am unaware of the photographer's personal life though.

oie indreni (Grul interrupted) :P
I always love the way you talk lol , chautaree ma kina na aaeko ajakal? aau na :D

Ya you are right ,I guess . but when I saw the first picture of course my heart filled with a sympathy yet my eyes did not wanna stop on it. It gave me some kind of ominous ,eerie feeling and being honest that was not the heart touching feeling . I might be thinking the “heart touching” word from only one perspective but we all can define it according to own's perception ni hoina ra?. as you said that glass “full or half” thing .:D

--->>And, by instict, who do we want to cuddle and hug? Ofcourse the cute one, one who has been cleaned and pampered :)! Should we call it pathetic? or blame it on our humanness? Hm... ke tha?
---> I would say the whole thing goes to the definition of beauty and comfort we had from our childhood!! The things that are compared irrationally!! and the inner self remaining on the verge of extinction!!
You have peace of your mind when u see the second pic but when u see the first one u see the reality of world!! Just a presence of human nature I would say!! The world suffers and you don't care until you get the same sufferings!! I live, you live and we live and half the world dies!! We do have to care, but who cares until we are comfortable hoina??
Just some two cents!!
Have a good day everyone!!..:)

Girlu,
How could you? How could you assume that the kid in the picture was eaten by vultures and the photographer didn't do anything to save her? Would a human do something ruthless like that? Hell NO!!! Use your noodle before you assume and always think positive.

I do not say this picture touches you most. But I am sure you can feel something in this picture. This picture is taken form NEPAL magazine.
