Pele said that Brazil will win the World Cup 2006. As I have noticed that sajha users are very much interested in Football, why don't we start a discuss in this topic.

I am going to start by cheering for Australia. But I am sure I will have to find a different team to cheer for shortly because they will probably not win any game.

Argentina should fare well with several young and promising players like Javier Mascherano, Rodrigo Palacio, Lionel Messi, etc. However, in 02 and 06 World Cups, Argentina has been deceived by luck in the first round. Group C is the most difficult one with Group E being the second most difficult. Being drawn into the group with the Netherlands and Serbia and Montenegro has created a strong challenge for Argentina. But this time, they should be able to reach the semis at the least.

Portugal and Czech Republic are also teams with good prospects. Cristiano Ronaldo, the skilled winger will greatly entertain the audience. I can't wait to see his moves.

Brazil is a great footballing nation, but I don't know why I don't like them, might be because they are the rivals of Argentina :D

Go Brazil. Argentina will go down. I hope Spain will do good from Europe. Also, its about time some Asian team shine on to the limelight of success and glory.

peace out

Meri do masukaye hein mitra'. Ek Arjun badh aur dosra meri bir gati. Ranbhumi kurukhestra mein meri in do masukaye mein dono mein ek se mera milan toh purna nirdharit hein.

The above dialog was from Karna to Duryodhan in Dharma yudh of Mahabharat referring to his ultimate fling with destiny (Fight till death with Arjuna).

Here in the upcoming Greatest Show on the Face of the Planet, on the biggest sporting stage/event the world is fortunate enough to witness, I have "Tin Masukayes," from my babyhood days.

1) Brazil
2) England
3) Italy

With a soft corner for the team that is credit to have started the era of total football, Netherlands aka Holland.

Argentina does enjoy my soft corner, but every time I think of 1990 world cup game when they 'undeservedly' won the match 1-0, with Brazil's 22 attempts to their 2 and were literally made to play 'donkey' by the Brazilians, my bitterness gets the better of my soft corner. That is exactly why I danced with merriment when Germany won the fateful final.

Now among my "tin masukayes," arthat "tin premika haru" :), Brazil is the one I am almost married to.

Love them, or hate em' but you can't just ignore em'. You talk soccer, you talk about Brazil. I mean what good is the body without the soul? If only they were allowed to have two teams, both would reach the finals; take away the law of averages.

I am married to the sport itself, but these three masuakyes, especially and foremost the Brazilians make it easier for me to not even remotely consider divorce.

Time permitting, I shall present the analysis and draw some analogy of the teams come june-july.

You take the player by player analysis, Brazil should come on top, you talk about win/lose ratio, Brazil should come on top, you talk about history, Brazil should come on top, come up with any analogy, any logic, any plan, any argument, and splash it wide open, the truth is TOO EVIDENT to even consider it otherwise.

Now, if we are talking about our heart, what can one say about it? My heart would have said Nepal had it qualified. Thus, we are free to interpret what our heart forces us to. But head, my friend should give you one and ONLY resounding answer.

BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL tararararaar rararaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa tarararara araraaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Brazil. No ifs and but. Period!

Indisguise:)

Indi bro,
Lol...enjoyed your analysis, good one! Me, on the other hand, have only one 'premika', that is Argentina, every other heavy weight footballing nation is a rival to me. Thats why I take other seasonal nations which temporary show ability to thwart the giants. Like, in 98, I won bets against 10 friends of mine, taking Romania against England, and I was jumping and dancing whole after that game.
I will be writing more of my experiences later. For the moment, can anyone suggest me which will be the three most exciting games to watch in the league match? I am thinking of applying for a ticket tomorrow. Since the tickets are allocated through a kind of draw, we are applying for three of the games. We have decided the first choice, ie Arg vs Neth in Frankfurt on 21st June. What could be the other two? Waiting for your suggestions...

World_Map bro,

Brazil vs. Japan or Croatia
Italy vs. Czech
England vs. Sweden
Spain vs. Ukraine
France Vs. Switzerland

For the sake of sport itself, for the love of god, for everything that this sport is and beyond, PICK A GAME WITH BRAZIL vs. either Croatia or Japan.

Japan, a close to home Asian giant and Croatia 1998 third place finisher. They promise to test the Brazilians. But if you want bet a house on it you know which team to pick eh'? Good!;)

Another promising prospect is Italy vs. Czech.

Although Czech have never really performed on the biggest stage except in recent history in 1996 when the lost to Germany in finals, they do have an efficient team and is ranked very high by FIFA. You know about Italy, don't you?

Spain, the prodigal underachiever Vs. Ukraine could be another firecracker, especially Sheva leading the attack after many frustrating tries to play in the grand stage. But Spain is as a good a team as any other.

England Vs. Sweden.

Errikson and history. Can not go wrong.

France - has the players. But are they up for it? Switzerland is no push over. France failed to beat them in the qualifiers. Does France remember Japan/Korea 2002? Hellooo!!!

But should be a good one.

Can somebody please let me know where to apply for a columnist for some sport desk. :p Okay, stop laughing folks, I did not say I wanted to play Ronaldo now, did I? ;) hehe.

A goal scoring superstar,
--> IndisGuise;)

Indi bro,
I liked
Brazil vs Croatia
Italy vs Czech
Spain vs Ukraine among your picks.

Another thrilling game, I suppose will be Portugal vs Mexico, with Portugal having history of Eusebio in 66, runners up in Euro 04 and Mexico being an old favourites from the Concacaf. Can't forget a skilful Mexican player called Hernandez in the 90s.

Among the games you suggested, I will support (and bet for) Croatia, Czech and Ukraine, respectively. You might be taunted or surprised about this but internally you will be pleased with prospects of winning several bets against me :D

I usually pick a seemingly weaker team against the favourites, except for Argentina. However the teams I pick do have a potential to beat their heavy weight opponents :D

WorldMap bro,

Hernandez, a blond hair one eh'? No. 9 he was, with a nano risk of being wrong.
He used to put a bandana on his head. Yep, he was good. Hugo Sanchez was the King Kong of Mexican football though ;)

You maybe bet for Croatia if you are gunning for a large return with negligible investment. High risk, negligible investment with a potential to hit the jackpot once in a while.

BUT,

if you area seasoned gambler, my friend, I hope you remember the golden rule; "THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS." Well, eventually. I guess "eventually" is GIVEN.
Here "house" is a metaphor for Brazil, and rightly so.

But you are going for broke with your saving, i.e., your house and all, don't forget, the law or probability is against you, and I, as a good Samaritan have warned you. LOL Hehehe ;).

It's one thing to cheer for underdog, and but is completely insane to go-broke for one ;).

I do nto count my chickens until it's about to be hatched. Let's see who all plays and who all are injured. The battle field is drawn, but the gladiators are yet to be armored.

I am neither surprised, nor taunted; regarding the bets, I am all for it when the fat lady sings. We all have our vices, let's get it on.

Until then,

Con amore'
IndisGuise:)

i would certainly go for Argentina. this country have always been my fav team in the world cup. brazil is certainly the fav team coming to the world cup but the case might be different always. there is no certainty of brazil winning the world cup. as per european team, i would go for holland because they have been playing the role of underdogs for several years. that's the attitude i like in every team of every kind of sports.

My gut feeling says that its gonna be a European country this time.

My picks are:

1) Italy
2) France

I have no hopes for Holland and England who are known to screw up big games, big time.

Gosh....when will I get a chance to support Nepal in FIFA world cup...?? Anybody, any idea?
