You can choose as per your current situation and future plans:
1. Reserve:
- If you have a good job or if you think you can land a good job after getting citizenship
- Currently in school and planning to graduate in future
- if you are planning to study further and Army want's to pay little portion of your education

2. Active
- Working Army as a full time and getting out from there after 4 years ( 6 years comparing to Reserve)
- You dont care wherever you are station
- Want to experience Army life
- Education benefit is really good but after getting out of Army (Paid for everything including housing and books)

Experience guys can add input

If you
- have good job
- prospects of getting good job very soon
- planning to go to college
-or in the college
Go for reserve but keep on mind its 6 yrs .

From my experience there are lots of positives and negatives aspects in the active duty.
If you really want to gain some military experience and that something u like to do then join active. Remember army is not for everyone its not like what u see in the Saving private ryan or the blackhawk down.
Usually you work 5 days a week and get weekend and gvt holidays off plus you get 30 days paid vacation every year.BUT sometimes you will be working 14-15 hrs a day for months and even on weekends.Going to weeks long field for training is normal. Most of the people in the army are friendly and easy going but there are some a**holes leaders who makes lower enlisted soldiers life miserable.
