Which feild is better to go into. Its time for me to join a consultancy and I need to know what other folks are doing. What advantages and disadvantages are there in the field if any one is doing any one of these? I am also open to any other suggestions. BTW I have a STEM degree.

STEM is huge, which major did u graduated on?....
I would suggest.....If you do not have any computer background ( means..if you didn't took any programming class in school like C, C++...) go for QA/BA... its easy to learn but hard to find job.
If you have little programming knowledge or interest, take risk and go for Java or .Net. There is quite a lot learning curve but its worth it in the long run.

Maxpayne,

I think it is also about personal choice. It is not just about learning but also cracking an interview and surviving in the job! I have seen some friends extremely struggle everyday to survive, whereas others are striving well.

If you do not have prior experience/knowledge and also do not have a very good interest in learning them, I suggest trying QA/BA/BI; if you dont have prior programming experience but do have a great deal of interest in it, go for it - obviously, you'll have to work hard and you might have to struggle initially to survive, but 'no pain, no gain' - the scope is higher.

Or, you can start from learning simple skills like QA/BA/BI, work in the field for about a year or two and then upgrade yourself to complex skills - that way, you survive well, learn the industry well, are confident and comfortable, and develop some background knowledge as to what skills you would like to learn and practice. If the upgrade doesnt work for any reason, you will still have your existing skill to depend on.

Good Luck!

I have seen BA's not getting jobs in several months. For BA too, they are asking for SQL knowledge etc. BA is jack of all , master of none kind of area. If one has developer background and transitions to BA, that person will have ease working. But again, i have seen ppl with no IT background doing BA jobs and surviving as well. Dot net and java seems to get lots of requirements. Also, QA is not hardcore i guess,  but then hight level QA is another area, where u ll need to write scripts etc..

Good LUCK.

Couple of friends I talked with seem to find QA/BA easy, also spoke with some consultancies, they are saying jobs can be had in about 2-4 months. I am fimiliar with SQL and would'nt mind working on it.
Does any one here do Sharepoint Administration or Cloud Service Administrations?

If you don't have programming(C#, .NET, javascript etc) or administering(Windows Server) knowledge then donot go for SharePoint. Instead I would suggest to look for sql developer or administrator and then lots of options will open for you.
