Also, wherever, however -- or who may have -- started the original gossip, I believe Sajha can, and Sajha must, rise above the pettiness and avoid letting it's users indulge in disgusting gossips about others' personal lives. So what if others are doing it? That still doesn't justify Sajha joining the bandwagon.

San ji,
On your very first sentence you admitted that  this thread as 'controvertial' (controversial). So why it is taking you so long to delete as requested by other users ?

San,

As always, you have explained things with great responsibility and reason. Everything you said make sense

However, to your last question

“For us to delete it from sajha would have zero impact. ….would it have any impact on what Namrata has to go through? I don't think so.”

I believe the answer is huge YES. If we can make this news (of deleting of threads and of the symbolic meaning of it) to reach to her at this hour of the ordeal she is going through, the impact would not be zero, it would be rather infinity. So huge that it might actually SAVE her life, if, God forbid, she has reached to a point of losing all hopes.

What the international media is doing do not matter much. What matters for her is that the whole Gorkhe brotherhood is demonizing her. A small word of support might go a long way to give her strength. And here we are talking about a very huge and very special support..

As I said, the condition is that this message should reach to her. The impact will be so huge it might go up to saving her life.

This will be same as Sajha’s past act of humanity towards  saving lives of our brothers fighting for life from terminal illness or one requiring huge cost.

And last but not the least, even if this much is not possible, the title of this thread is really disgusting and demeaning. If it is not to you and other Sajha readers, my bad.

Forgiveness is the great concept contributed by Jesus. Yes, Jesus was a bit crackpot, slightly insane... but jewish could not tolerate him but crucified him. Crucification was not required at all. But here is the excerpts from Bible - John 8

1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them.

3 And the scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the midst,

4 they *said to Him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act.

5 "Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?"

6 And they were saying this, testing Him, in order that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground.

7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them,
"He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

8 And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And when they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.

10 And straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"

11 And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more."

So no one can condemn Namrata as well... the only difference between sin and crime - crime is only after the action.. otherwise you can think of killing someone, but you are still the sinner although you might not have executed the idea. So, in a way we all are sinner.. and as per above story, no one would be eligible to condemn Namrata.....

Jesus got enlightened because he lived 18 years in India... he went back to Israel at age 30, and by age 33 he was already crucified... so all the teachings of Jesus is due to eastern meditation practice Jesus learned in India. But he was crucified in such a way that he never died, he ran away to Kashmir where he died at the age of somewhat 112 or so... it's the same place where Moses was also spent his last days.. and both the tombs are still there in Kashmir.

Therefore, This thread should be removed.. or not removed.. does not matter... but I hope Namrata woudl read this... and she would dump everything as a grabage about the past... Past is past.. it's just a memory.. it's gone... remember buddhism.. live in present...!!!

Involving gossips in someone's personal life is WRONG but involving gossip in someone DEATH which is not even true is MORE WRONG . So for right now the focus is only on deleting this hopeless and immaginative thread   Namarata Shtestha commit sucide ??

Friends pls be more specific our request is to point out and  delete this immaginative thread Namarata Shtestha commit sucide ??otherwise SAN will misinterpret and come with another justification .

I give you one e.g there are countless quiz in facebook where users can take a quiz about what OBAMA did wrong but there was one quiz question last week that says Should OBAMA be killed? this quiz question was immediately removed/banned by facebook realising how unethical, hateful and how bad it is to talk about someone's death.
the similar case is here when sajha viewers keep seeing Namarata Shtestha commit sucide ?? everytime they log in sajha

"This" thread has to be deleted because of its shocking title. But not other threads related to Namrata which came and went anyway.

And ved, shut the fu(k up about your Jesus crap. Who cares about that dude anyway. A few people just died in Nepal due to his followers' zeal.

Being just a mute reader of Sajha for a long time, what prompted me again to write today, is the response of SAN to NEPE. It seems quite evident that it is not too hard to disentangle Nepe's intended line of argument here. What baffles me more is SAN's mediocre response to NEPE.

"I would like to take this opportunity to point out that a single thread like this or few threads with controvertial topic in no way affects the ad revenues in sajha."

Sorry but no sorry. It does affect the ad revenue in Sajha. If I am wrong, would you please enlighten me about the revenue model that Sajha follows.

There is no argument that Sajha is helping people come together but how hard is it to admit as well that Sajha also depends on online ad-revenue model to sustain and perhaps, thrive among the community.

"As an informed internet user, I am sure that you can imagine what kind of content could have been introduced within sajha in order to increase the hits if that was the most important thing for sajha."

I feel weary of the dull and prehensile attempt to prove the point that Sajha does not intend to increase the hits.No one is arguing about what could have been, should have been or would have been the category of Sajha site. It is your site. You know it better about the implications and consequences of having the site redered to your 'could have been' category. The judgement lies on you.

"Again, if this was something that originated from sajha or had the potential of originating from sajha to a wider audience, then I can understand the need to remove it ASAP and I would be happy to comply."

SAN's argument remains valid but I'm sure he also understands that the people who hide themselves in digital anonymity to smear others are not only hurting the victim but also damaging the sense of trust to us all, on and offline. It's a different question altogether how wide does SAN want to expose himself for potential damages that might be claimed against Sajha.

"But would it have any impact on what Namrata has to go through?"

This response won the biggest piece of pie. How could one be so blatantly ignorant about the embarrassing emotional trauma the victim might be going through?

With due repect, SAN, please go blow your brains out, you've got nothing to lose then.

"I just received a text from Nepal saying "Namrata Shrestha" commit sucide. Try to ring Nepal but no body knows it... is it true or just rumor."

The originator of this thread just wanted to know if what he had heard was true or not. Long story short - simple "No" would have killed this thread. You, the moral defender/police of Sajha, chose to give the continuity to this thread. You added life to otherwise what would have been a dead thread.

Go figure who is at fault - you, the moral defender/police of Sajha, or San, the admin of Sajha?

Yes, this thread should be deleted because of the title. Regarding other videos, does not matter.

This "Sucide" thing should not be implanted in her mind who knows she is googling and reading Sajha to figure out what are people saying about her

Why can't you all take the responsibility for giving the fuel to this thread? Don't you share any blame?
It's very easy to point the fingers on others, isn't it?

Hi all, thank you for expressing your opinions with due respect to individual thoughts and ideas without indulging in any personal attacks.

As far as my response was concerned it was directed towards the request to "delete all threads related to Namrata", which is not going to do anything at this point since it is already out in mainstream media. It may seem like a symbolic activity to do something like that, but the fact of the matter is that the damage has been done and nothing is going to undo what has already happened. For us to even extend this thread requesting it to be deleted is in fact counter intuitive as it prolongs the thread. I think it is better to start a new thread for issues like this so that the issue in question does not get the undue attention as intended by few concerned members.

I do agree that this thread can be filtered out as rumor mongering and presenting falsified info, but when you look at it closely it is simply a question posed by ssigdel - which, as someone pointed above could have been resolved by a simple NO - instead of prolonging this thread.

In my opinion, the damage to Namrata has already been done outside of sajha with the release of that video and subsequent news coverage in the media. What goes on inside Namrata's mind is not for us to assume, but we can wish her well and wish her all the best. We cannot stop society from making their individual judgments. We cannot be the moral police and try to act as if nothing has happened by wiping the forums clean of this issue.

Even the democratic process of sajha whereby 20 thumbs down deactivates a post has not been reached for any of the postings in this thread. Are we supposed to base democracy on a handful of people with the loudest voices? Or do we let the democratic process run it's course? This is a very important thing we need to think about. This in no way undermines the requests made by people here - but I simply want to point to the democratic process of saying no to a thread rather than making demands to do it just because a handful of people think so! It makes sense to delete this thread without any further ado if it receives 20 thumbs down - out of 10,000 visitors who visit this site daily and out of 35,000 registered users, I think 20 is a very liberal number required to vote a thread off sajha. So please cast your votes if you feel strongly against this thread.

Lastly I wanted to point out to Meet misfit that I write here under my personal name and my personal info is available to everyone; and I appreciate your forthrighness when you say "SAN's argument remains valid but I'm sure he also understands that the people who hide themselves in digital anonymity .."
Your point is especially true when under digital anonymity a person can be harshly judgmental about someone without having a shadow of responsibility and credibility as far as their own identity.
