Thought I'd share a few chords w/ u guys, if u already dun know em:D

You don't have to be Steve Vai to play the guitar to your satisfaction n you dont have to be Lata Mangeshkar to sing a song.

Apologize - Timbaland.

Am F C G (all throughout the song).

Sexual Healing - Ben Harper

G Am Em F C (the Em is just for ONE strum after the Am)

Jati Maya - Arun Lama (?)

Em D (Keep repeating with appropriate Nepali style strumin)

Safe Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry

Am F C G (If you can hammer your middle finger on each chord change, it sounds really nice).

Every rose has its thorn - Poison

G C (goto D C on refrain).

Adhuro Prem

Am F C G (there are millions of songs with this chord progression. A medley of various songs is real easy).

Sail away with me - David Gray

Bm F#m Bm G Em
Verse - (D F#m) x 3 Bm A G Em

Sacred - Albatross

Verse - D G C
Chorus - C G D

Semi-Charmed kind of life - Third Eye Blind

G D C (double check strumming pattern)

Only God Knows Why - Kid Rock

E B A ( thats it, keep repeating )

Kehi Meetho - Narayan Gopal

G Bm G (Nepali strum)
in the part where he says "bhana feriiiiii, ekanta maa" or smth like that :) its C G Am G :)

Whats up - 4 non blondes

A Bm D (repeat till you die).

Akashaima (chila udyo dharti ma chaya) - [dunno the singer]

E D (like jati maya laye pani but with more punch)

Country Roads - John Denver

Verse - G Em C D

Chorus - G D C Em

Soldier of Love - Pearl Jam

C#m E C#m E C#m F#m E

(E Ab A B E) x 2

those are some of the songs I play and sing :) Feel free to add more. From my experience we Nepali people LOVE to sing especially when we get drunk at parties :D

Yep maddy dai,

Maya meri maya is in that chord progression. Just add a sprinkle of plucking to your taste :D

As for Hey Mona I havent heard the song well enough to play that.

Ani kaha timro mayalu lai, who's the artist? I want to try it out cuz I've never heard it.

If you got any more nepali chords do share  :D.

I got sum dhoti n nep tunes to jam out to.

Here are sum nice bhaiya songs (these are real easy because most of the time its in a G-C-D progression, esp Lucky Ali).

O Sanam - Lucky Ali

G C D

Chorus: C D C D G

Chura liya - [dunno artist]

Am G (alternate between the two).

Dum Maro Dum :

Am G

..and in the part where he goes "duniya ne hamko diya kya" I think there's an F and a C involved but I'm not too sure.

Dooba Dooba - Silk Route

( G C ) x 2
"...ab din gusharte rahein" ma chai (D C) x3 G

Papa Kehte hain - sum movie by amir khan

G Bm C D. (keep strummin and make sure ure audience is drunk as hell before u start this one ;) haha).

Now for sum Nepali songs,

Harpal - Astha
G Em C D

Birsana Sakina - Astha

Bm G D A

Hamro Nepal - Xmarica

For the intro: (G (full measure) C (full measure) )x 8 while singing the 'dhaka topi sirai ma' part, all the way to the 'yo hamroooo nepala' part.

Then the second intro comes in. For this the chord is basically a G but it is played only on the lower 3 strings. So I dunno exactly what its called but its the same as you would play a D but move it 7 bars up.

Then song = (G C D D) X 2
pre chorus = C D

Chorus G C D (bar chords this time)

---------

I dunno the title of this next song, but its by haribanksa acharya and it goes: hamri aama saari nai baathi chan (or smth like that..my lyrics = bad).

Its just a nepali strum pattern of G. Then when u get tired switch to C :D.

Peace.

Kahile galako lalile, kahile mitho bolile
Bm                  E        E                    A

and likewise rest of the song
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Musu musu hasi deu na lai lai
A                          Bm

Musu musu hasi deu
Bm                       A

yo mayalai marideu
E

ya hridaya (?)
A

musu musu ....

Suike,

Thnx for musu musu. Now there's another song I can add to my 'play' list :D

As for kehi mitho, I start out from G then goto Bm and after that jump back to G to for a whole measure.

If you do figure out what goes in between (maybe its a chord with a G base, not sure) let me kno :D

ty.

dd

Ahoy there pirate ;)

I'm no pro but I could suggest you sum 'practice' to master the art of flawless (almost ;)) chord changing.

G - Cadd9 - D combo.

I think this is the easiest chord progression to learn (for me at least) Cadd9 is like a G but you move ure middle and index finger exactly one string down (each). It is important to tap your feet as you don't want to be counting beats in ure head and try to remember which chord to change to as well.

At first tap your feet every 1 second. Give yourself four good taps then start on the 5th. on the 5th tap strum down on G. repeat the down stroke on tap 6,7,8 as well. so basically every second you are sturmming down on the G chord. One strum per second and the strum is downstroke.

Once you're comfortable with this tempo, try inserting an upstroke before the next downstroke. So when your feet touches the ground to tap, you have played downstroke and when your feet is up you have played upstroke. so in one second ure going to have one downstroke and one upstroke of the same chord.

Practise this for four beats (or four foot taps or four seconds whichever makes sense to you). on the fifth tap change to Cadd9. You will only have to move ure middle and index fingers (without changing their formation) a string lower.

Repeat the same exercise for Cadd9 for four taps and change chords to D. Changing to D, you just move ure middle and index fingers down while keeping ure ring finger where it is as a pivot. your pinkie should automatically raise itself so that your're pressing on the 2nd bar in the E string (sappai bhanda tala ko) with your middle finger.

Once you're comfortable with strumming and chordchanging you can modify your strumpattern to your taste. your right hand should feel comfortable oscillating up and down, and you only have to apply a bit of pressure in ure down stroke to emphasize on it hence making ure upstrokes sounding relatively 'softer'.

Another tip is while down stroking, try to hit the top 3 strings (bass), and while up stroking try to get the lower 3 strings (treble) to resonate :D you can come up with sum nice rhythms this way.

Using your thumb for downstrokes makes softer sounds than using a pic or ure index finger nails.
