Premstha

What is the source of that picture? Can you please post it?

If the narrative in that picture is accurate, I am reminded of the bubble Nawab of Lucknow (or some other place I forget) lived in . Apparently he could not fight/flee the British forces because all his attendants had fled and there was no one to help him put on his shoes.

The sight of anyone having to assist a healthy adult put on their shoes  is disgusting enough but to have a colonel in the Army do it is sickening beyond belief. It seems some people never learn.

Hi Cleo

At the risk of sounding like an arugula-eating elitist, I am not as surprised by the fact the King has attendants and others who help him put on his shoes and probably his clothes  but I am unnerved by the fact that in this day and age, when we have have just gone through the most turbulent moments in our history, this sort of tradition has not been broken. And that too in public! The whole idea is wrong in principle. The practice sure disturbs me but the mindset behind it, whether it be of reverence or servitude - we might disagree on which one -  is what I feel contributed in large part to the demise of the Monarchy in Nepal.

There is a time and place for everything. The time for this sort of a thing, should never have been, but sadly it was for many year but now it has clearly passed.

Just my thoughts - feel free to disagree.

juggy da, the answer is probably YES. hopefully, things will change in coming days.

captain, surprisingly i agree with you this time.
it's more like keeping up the appearances in his part i believe.people tend to give up things that are invisible, but they don’t give up things visible to the outside world, and in this case to the empty-headed nepalese crowd.it's a normal tendency i guess when one  is stripped off the power/possessions once he/she had.  transition from a supreme ruler to nobody is not that simple. it's a complete psychological change.we shouldn't be expecting the overnight transformation here, rite?he definitely needs some peace and time to be able to wake up as an ordinary citizen one fine morning... of course, rather sooner than later.

Cleo

Yeah, I hope so too. Not to sound too pompous but I have nothing against him personally - my disagreements are largely based on principles (although there are some personal traits of his that I wish no one to posses).  I know of his wife to be a very nice woman. I hope they both handle this transition to the best of their abilities. At the end of the day this is about the country and I hope we will see lasting peace and prosperity someday.

Best wishes to you too.

Later.

:)

PS: Thanks for the source Juggy. Hope all is well with you.

If u guys look at the picture carefully it seems like the cornel is trying to put his own shoes. I could see him lifting his right leg up and tring to put his shoes not gyne shoe.
