Kathmandu, Morang to elect seven parliament members

Palpa and Jhapa lost one seat each while Kailali and Udaipur gained one seat each in re-drawn parliamentary constituencies ahead of national elections on November 13. There has been no changes in other parliamentary constituencies.

Kathmandu and Morang will continue to elect seven members each to the 205 member House of Representatives. A commission to delineate new parliamentary electoral constituencies made the announcement Monday without increasing the designated 205 seats in the lower house of parliament following a national census earlier this year.

Five members each will represent Sunsari, Siraha, Saptari, Sarlahi, Rupendehi, Kailali, Dhanusha and Jhapa. Four members each will represent Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Mohottari and Chitwan.

Three members each will be elected from Udaipur, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Dhading, Lalitpur, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangjha, Baglung, Gulmi, Surkhet, Bardia, Kanchanpur, Ilam and Banke.

Kaski, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Kaski, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Khotang, Okhaldungha, Dolakha, Bhaktapur, Lamjung, Parbat, Argakachi, Rukum, Rolpa, Salyan, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Bhajang, Doti, Baitadi, Taplejung, Dhankuta, Ramechap, Palpa, Pyuthan and Achham will be represented by two members each.

One member each will represent Tehrathum, Solokhumbu, Rasuwa, Manang, Myagdi, Mustang, Dolpo, Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Bajura, Dandeldhura and Darchula. nepalnews.com br July 15
