OK:

1) Did a dhoti you never knew stopped you around Wal-Mart and striked a conversation?
2) Did he say he had his own business? Online business?
3) Did he invite you for tea sometimes?
4) Did he tell you you can make a million just like that?
5) Do you want to waste your money starting first with $300? (and a lot more later on)
6) Do you want 10 of your close friends/relatives lose their $300?
7) Are you stupid enough to believe that some pathetic guy is dying to make you a millionaire?
8) Do you want to pay high dollars to collect junk (medicines, lotions etc) ?
9) Do you think if you could be a millionnaire just like that, that dhoti bhai would be roaming around Wal-Mart?
10) Many similar questions.

If you answer YES to all the questions, you should go for it. I didn't.

All these views, whoever said that, are losers. People can make money in Quixtar like all the other people, indian, american or chinese. it depends on you, how ambitious u r ?
More than 20 diamonds were broken last year in China. I am from Dallas, work in Gas station. I was in Quixtar, met people, signed up people and failed. But I am not going to quit bcoz I am not losers like other these guys. If u are already an IBO, we will meet on the stage as a brand new diamond, if not, dont listen to these broke people who are telling you not to be financially free coz they cant be.

All the QUIXTAR people are blood sucking parasites who dream to be millionare and get retirement as early as possible. Have they ever realized where those free million dollar will be coming from?

For one wise-ass to be successful they need atleast 200 millionare wanna be stupids under him/her, given condition everyone of them actively participates .......... wasting their hard earned money on expensive dietry supplements and all the crappy products.

Its not worth it to talk about it with the morons coz they are all brain washed thro' cds, dvds and books they read all the time about how to lure others into this business. Wise men learn from others mistakes, normal people learn from their own mistakes but the stupid asses don't learn even from their own mistakes. Quixtar people lies in 2nd and 3rd catagories.

They usually target H1B workers new to US who have money to waste and dream to be rich, and also hard working F1 students who dream big but are too naive to detect their deceit.

As for dhotis, they are too many in numbers and even growing every year, it won't be hard for them to find some potential murgas but why us nepalese into it???? Who are you going to deceive to make some of your dhoti applian rich???

Gorda, I feel sorry for your thinking, just calculate you say they made 20 diamonds in china, how many are paying to keep him earning as diamond .... I guess more than 4000 .... you talk about ambition ???? THANK YOU for ambitiously robbing your fellow nepalese to make ur dhoti bhai rich and add another brick into ur castle in the air. Respect your hard earned money. Be proud of it, atleast don't disgrace others calling loosers. In the long run you will find out who is the real looser.

No nepalese community in any part of US is big enough to make one nepalese a diamond unless you are willing to waste all your day in walmart and best buy stores. Well as I am from Dallas, may be we are 4000 - 6000 nepalese here, at most 30 can be diamonds if he can fool all the rest.

So friends If anyone of those parasites approach you, be bold to say NO.

it seems they got one murga yet again.
I came across this thing called Quixtar my freshman year when I went to Champaign, IL with one of the prominent members of sajha back then (which I only knew about a year later however).
Our plan was to meet each other since we shared the same high school and hang out. While I know he had no intention of signing us up for it, we ended up going to the meeting anyway.
My friend and I (both FOB back then) were in a very diverse group of quasi-intellectuals. There was a mathematician from a nearby university (U of I, Champaign , Nationality: Vietnamese I believe), another couple of grad students from the same university, a med student from the same university (I believe a Desi) and a couple of other people who looked like they had decent jobs.
So somehow, we ended up eating free pizza (which was pretty good) and listening to these people talk. So the leader of this group, who claimed to be earning $3K a month at that moment and who claimed he quit a job at Wall street to seriously pursue this business, started his speech. It seemed like he had rehearsed the speech multilple times. (Even my relatively naive mind could sense that).

So there comes the question: Do we wanna join this?

My friend asked me the same question and I could see that he was considering it. I, on the other hand saw a few loopholes in this guy's speech. The main one being:

He claimed that this was not a pyramid scheme. I had no idea what a "pyramid scheme" was EXACTLY but it sounded like whatever he was saying was a PYRAMID scheme. And I could distinctly remember him delivering that point swiftly and with a false sense of confidence.

The other major factor was the look of the people in the room.
Seriously, They had this look about them as if they were looking at something I could not see. Something, I had never before experienced in my life but which I am sure I will see more of.
All of them looked like they were well to do normal people yet I could not shake off the weird vibe in the room.

After the meeting was over, they began browsing through the products, the way we browse through our TV. After that moment, I had other things I wanted to think about than spend MY time on this.

I personally believe in the opportunity cost of doing something, one of the basic concepts in economics.Time spent doing one event is Time lost on not doing the other. I could see that they did not see things like that. For them, their time was not a priority. Rather, money was. I am sure there is some money in this.
But ask yourself: Are you willing to give your time and money to these people? Are you willing to waste your brain cells thinking about which person will go for your offer or which product will maximize your earnings (is that how it works?)?

I hope this made things a little clear.

P.S. Funny enough after two years when I entered my junior year, I got a random call from an african student studying in my neighbouring university about this, asking me if I was interested.

I myself was a stupid to spend 300$ a month for ew months. For Nepali mitra what I can say is all the people who are in quicxtar are softspoken, seem very nice, they want to involve your whole family not only you and suck out of you. In fact they are cheaters.

After I saw a program about them in 60 minutes I was so shocked it was about 3 years ago.The minute I saw that program I quit it. Now I am happy.

if you are more interested in it you can see the link below

Quixstar/Amway they are same. I have even has some quixstar enthusiasts deny that. Quixstar is a pyramid scheme which gives people dreams of getting rich quickly.

Things they say to lure you..

What would you do if you made 4000 a month without doing any work? How about 10,000 a month? Where would you like to go for vacation? How about clear water and sunny weather. What kind of car would you like to get?

Oh the dreams they conjure. Yet behind all the facade, what they really want is for you to spend your hard earned dollars and for you to entrap unsuspecting family and friends. They get you in their wanna be rich scheme by luring you with the dreams. Once you are in there, you become one of them. Greedy, hungry, conjuring up dreams to others.

If a random stranger comes to me and starts a friendly conversation...about what I do, where I live, if Im financially independent, I ask them boldly 'are you in any way associated with quixtar?' and if they 'yes' or hint to that...i just say 'back off..right now' and thats the end of the story.
If you think you can make a decent living with your own abilities..then why would you wanna waste your time listening and making these folks rich?

I used to be an IBO at Quixtar. I got out after a year.

I joined because a good friend of mine, who I respected immensely and still do, introduced me to it.

The business model looks excellent, at least on paper or on the white-board as they often show in Quixtar meetings. And it might not be outright hoax like some other pyramid schemes. But... yes, there is always this but... Illicit or uncomfortable and difficult is probably an adequate depiction.

The reasons I got out are as follows:

1. It devastates your personal relationships. Since the Quixtar business model is based on making your friends and family your customers and encouraging them to do the same thing, you are bringing business to your personal life. And that, in most instances, will destroy your relationships. Suddenly, you will find your friends avoiding you. Why? Because you always talk about making them your business pawn.

2. Greed is prevalent. No matter how you skin this cat, it is what it is, manifestation of greed. The reason you join Quixtar is because you want to be rich. And as you become an IBO and go to their seminars and meetings and read their books and listen to their CDs and watch their DVDs, one common denominator is GREED. Michael Douglas, in Wall Street, said, "Greed is Good." Well, Quixtar will make you believe, "Greed is Great."

3. I was told that this was something you do on a side with minimal commitment of time and effort. That ain't so. You will need to put in extraordinary amount of time and effort, and even then, you will not make much. They tell you to go to Walmart and Target and other stores and approach strangers in order to convince them to join in as IBO. I don't know about others, but for me that would require lot of time that I do not have and very thick skin for rejections. So who benefits, it's the top guy in your line, not you.

4.Your whole life gets engulfed by this Quixtar. You talk about it all the time with your family and friends. You think about it all the time. You will have a house full of Quixtar products and your livingroom will be dedicated to be showcase of Quixtar products for your down-line and prospective IBOs. You will listen to their CDs in your house and in your car. You will read their books every day. You go to their meetings every week, maybe several times a week. You go to their conferences, spending your own money of course, several times a year. This is what they tell you to do. No wonder you will be thoroughly brainwashed.

I got out. I apologized to those who I talked into becoming IBOs. They were quite relieved. I apologized to my friend who got me in, because it was not his fault, as it was my decision. He is still an IBO, I think, and is doing very well, but that is because of his education, good job and thoughtful financial investments, not because of Quixtar. (By the way, in one of the conferences, the top guy in the pyramid said, "Why do you want to educate your kids? So that they can work for somebody else? No, get them into Quixtar." At that very moment, I realized, I had to get out).

So, my advice, if you see a guy asking you to join him to be a Quixtar IBO don't just walk away, RUN.

You might want to watch this NBC Dateline's investigative report before you decide to join Quixtar.

Good Luck!!!

Oh man, Quixtar.... 2002 Summer, Ocean City, MD when I was first introduced as an IBO. I spent $900 for three months and all i had was some funny tasting energy drink and crappy vitamins. Better if you spend that $300 / month on LOTTO, u have better chances of becoming a millionaire someday.

i don't understand why would sb spend $300/mo, which is itself a big amount...i was asked by my friend to join some kind of networking business that costed abt Rs10,000 one time, which looked terrible to me.

What I think is that in near future referrals and profit sharing will hit the business world but not like this pay $1000 to get $1500. Why don't you give that $500 later when I do the job?

Paramendra is also involved in Quixtar maybe he can shed some light into his business - http://quixtar.meetup.com/14/members/430912/

Why is a supposedly 'smart' guy duped into believing in quixtar and now he doesn't mind duping his friends and associates into joining quixtar?
