I feel sorry for the predicament faced by Army and Policemen.

A bunch of high ranking police officers were fired and the COAS was also about to get fired, but he only got questioned recently. And he said he was only following orders.

Is it right for a new government to sack police or army for following orders of previous goverments? They are only employees of the state and they have to follow orders. You cannot sue them for following orders of their superiors. Specially in police and army where heirarchy is important. You just have to follow orders.

Police and Army should not do politics and should not be held responsible ever for following orders. They are just like any other govt. servants , they do what they are told to.However, they need to respect basic human rights while doing their job.
They should not be scape goats for any political changes!!!!

In the same context, people under the Maoists leadership were just following orders. Now tell me who should be hanged - the leaders or the followers??

But then again don't you think Nepali history is changing day by day, whoever loses faces the consequences, those who win become the "Sikanders".

Plus if you look at what is happening out there from here its like watching a cricket match. Winnings, Innings and losings........................

cheers ..don't think too hard

The question is, "Is it wrong to follow orders?"
If you are talking about army or police, then it is wrong not to follow orders. Because they are sworn to do so and that is the most important aspect of their job.
When they were trying to suppress the people's movement, they were not doing politics, they were just following orders. Orders from the higher authority who is a politician.
There are differences between the army and the police too. Army doesn't respect basic human rights, Police is there to protect basic human rights. But when army is operated within a country's own border, their stradegy should change.
If the whole system is changed, the new one is likely to remove every bits and pieces of the old one using any means possible. There is no shouldn't or mustn't.

Hushpuppy, that happens all over the world, not only in Nepal.

Instead of firing those police chiefs and Army men, the authorities need to find out who the ACTUAL ORDER TO KILL came from.

How difficult is that to find out the chain of command and prosecute the person issuing such orders?

Seriously, suppose your boss is hitler, what would you do? I'd quit. Either love it or leave it.As simple as that.

Supposingly, the king had won, The chief of Army would be first throw a grand party. Now he's beeing interrogated which is good. If he's man enuf he'd say yeah i did it. If not, he'd be running around the bush like everybody. They probably brought him to the negotiaiting table..to see if they can threaten him to looosen his purse....its a madhouse out there..filled with filth!!!!!!!!!!

That's what happens when the whole system is overthrown. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet.
It is not difficult at all to find out the chain of command but it is very very difficult to prosecute because that is the final phase of a revolution which hasn't happened yet.

It is not wrong to follow orders from the authority. But to follow orders from the past regime and give a damn to the orders from current Supreme Court, "JaanchBujh ayog", etc. is wrong. If the COAS was such an inocent being why he followed the order from King during supression and now ignoring the orders from current authorities. The whole idea behind suspending or firing the police and army heads was to stop them from destroying/hiding important documents and evidences that would help the investigation committee know what really happened during the supression movement. If he was the genuine follower of the authority, he wouldn't have defied the instructions from the current authority in the first place. And yes, this Girije is just playing around the newfound "loktantra". Rather than trying to resolve the current problems, they are worried about who will be king/queen after Paras.
