Hi all,

I am planning to land in Canada as a permanet Resident next month. I am currently in USA. After landing, I still intend to return to USA. I plan to settle in Canada only after 2 years. If I tell the truth to the immigration officer during the landing, will it be a problem? Also what are the documents that I would need to take for the landing? What would be the settlement of funds and should it be in checks, cash, travellers check? Please provide me your inputs. That would be highly appreciated.

don't have to tell them that you plan to continue in US for next two year. you simply do it or do whatever is good for you.

Whats the point of telling them WHAT you are gonna do X number of years after? BUt even if you do tell, who is going to stop you from entering? :) Moreover, Canadians dont think Americans are hip so if you try to be cool, it aint gonna work :)

Also, make sure you have visa and all the neccessary documents to go back to U.S. After 9/11 things are the same, Americans being nose, will harass you and VISA wait is millions years..if you are planning to do that here..

since you will be returning right away, make sure you tell immigration officers that you still have stuffs that you are going to bring it with you next time..Such as computers, equipments..etc.. Just cuz you wont be taxed..when u come..SO make sure u declare that u are bringing some next time when u come..

Waht do you mean by landing in Canada?

If you tell them you are not going to live in Canada for two years, chances are they will not let you in. The condition of your landing is that you commit to live in canada permanently from the day you land. If that intent is not there, then the do not have to honour the landed papers... Just be careful. As Casey said, when you leave after a few days or whatever, just tell them that you are going on shopping or going to pick your stuff... PR visas are not as secure as the name seem to imply.
