Patrick Leahy, an obscure senator, claimed that Monarchy could be at risk in Nepal. And this lidicurous statement is bound to send most of the Nepalese rolling on the floor with laughter, including yours truly.

As far as i am concerned, voice of a nepai is much more important than a whatever Leahy (he is simply insignificant). What does he know about Nepal's condition anyway? Sitting on ivory towers and thinking about Nepal? Shame shame puppy shame all the donkeys know his name!

When a Nepali says that Nepal is not ready for democracy, i trust that for the following reasons:

***Bal Bahadyr KC manages to climb two storyes at midnight to rape a woman and still show every sign of winning and election. PUnishment is out of question.

*** Most of the MPs manage to import Land Rovers at discounted price and sell it to businessmen and get away with it

*** Most of the male MPs claim medical expenses for child delivery.

*** Prominent leaders, including Madhav Nepal, managing to upgrade their bicycle to Land ROver and their two-room hut to mansions.

The point is: forget the maths; forget the statistics. Nepal is NOT ready for democracy yet.

p.s. Senator Leahy, tell us another joke, plesase!!!!!

For the time being, we are happy with our King.

Bhoonte dai, you are wrong. Democracy is an evolving process. Hyperactive kings only put a pause in this process [Where has it not?]. It is not possible to create a functioning "framework" and then simply plug-democracy in [Where has this happened?]. You need to put democracy in place and let it play out. Sure it takes time...and an absolute monarch only serves to delay the process.

ShriyaK-jee,
Haha... I wish I were, but no I'm not Nepe. In fact, I don't know the gentleman at all. But you do bring up an interesting point. People like you seem to underestimate and dismiss the opposition outright. In this case, you simply implied that Nepe and I were the same person, therefore, there was no additional dissent. Incidentally, this happens to be the single most important reason why all monarchs fail...

As for my participation in threads by Ashu-jee, that's just a coincidence. I like to post whenever I have time and find something that I think is worth posting...

Haha...Now this is really funny indeed. Particularly the dogmatism and denial on the part of ShriyaK. I can only say WTF. (Note, Nepe-jee would perhaps never use such a phrase!!!)

Why Leahy Matters?
A senator from Vermont what does he know?Perhaps senatorsandministers of this cyberdome namedसाझा.com know better or maybe few vigilantes exhibiting their blind worship towards a modern day incarnation of deity(a draconioan despot) and few sexless neutrals unconsciously taking sides with the monarch know better.Darfur was imminent how about genocide in Rwanda when a charismatic William Jefferson Clinton was seated with cigar on the west wing.Atleast,we have a down to earth knowledgable senator raising valid issues about whats wrong with ruthless monarch of ours validating "RNA's to kill their countrymen/women"while intoxicated.
Call me a renegade now!
But remember Leahys are products of Jeffersonian enlightenmentnot feudalist visionaries!
Now tell Cheneys to screw themselves! Before he drills your backyard(if you know what I mean)

Patrick Leahy is a liability to the US senate.

He is a crow in a flock of flamingoes.

"G and his gang should leave the country ASAP so we can crown Mr. Lehay first president of Nepal" Bheda-Bokas don't have presidents. They have butchers and princes which may be one and the same thing.

Republican's are the root of evil all over the world, be it america or who want to come to nepal, so, whatever ya'll say we had democracy and we still can have it if we all can come together and stay together as one people.
I agree with some of these posts, I think it is the so called india educated, fake certificate's killing democracy, I want to know how did bicycle riding netas become so rich to build houses as big as a block and fleet of cars. I didn't know their salarys were that much.
Most of you will argue the king does the same thing. Well it is visible and I doubth it he would deny it besides he has always been rich unlike some madhav nepal's.
How about agreeing that most of the leaders in nepal were busy developing their own bank accounts instead of developing nepal into the 21st century.
If all of you can agree that King G is a chor than how about agreeing upon the fact that all the netas are CHOR too.........
if you guys can't realize this part there is going to be no peace in nepal. I would like to fight against the netas so that we can keep the king 100%.

Reform the partys than talk about reform in nepal, I think it is foolish to replace one thief with another.

Bhoonte, Not Patrick, you are making jokes.

***Bal Bahadyr KC

--> He went to that women who called him to sleep with her. It is not a rape. If someone calls you, what do you do?

*** Land Rovers

--> This is facility for MPs. Do you know the price of your king's new car??? more 30 millions.

*** Medical expenses for child delivery.

---> Not must of the PMs, only 2. The doctor had recommended them. Why charge for MPs. If you punish, punish to those foolish doctors.

*** Mmanaging to upgrade

---> Who don't want to upgrade? You????? Your father????? Then why we need development????

Bhoonte must have gone too far to call the ranking member of the senate judiciary committee a "joker" but I agree Senator Leahy does not have all the facts to make a fair assessment in Nepal's case. His support for ending Monarchy comes from the fact that he is actively involved with the Tibetan issue ever since he manuevered the release of Mr. Ngawang Choephel, a Tibetan former Fulbright Scholar, and Middlebury student who was arrested by Chinese authorities on a charge that he was spying for Dalai lama.

His comment regarding the elections is dubious at best. Calling the handful of corrupt political parties as the "real representatives of the Nepali people" took me by surprise. Where did he learn that Girija and Makune are my only real represetatives? I admit these handful of corrupt political parties were the representatives of nepali people in the last election that was held 6/7 years ago. But, how fair is it to call them the real representatives now? Shouldn't he be a supporter of free and fair elections now? if the King does not conduct the elections in a free and fair manner then I would agree that the international community could blame the king. But, until the elections are held I am of the opinion that the King ought to be given a chance. After the elections, if the parliament wants to change the constitution they will always have the right to do so.

RNA declaring a ceasefire and having meaningful discussion with the Maoists is like, as someone pointed out, "US laying down the arms and having a meeting with Osama".

One thing I fail to understand is how democracy is possible with the current leadership. Girija, Makune and Prachanda calling for democracy seems to be big joke. Especially Prachanda, a communist who beleives in one party red state cannot be trusted to bring democracy.

Also, I find really assumusing that the so called republican democrats making reckless accussations of being royalists for any differing view. Just a simple question. What is democracy? Why cannot you respect the differing view?

ABout Leahy, its good that some senator is keen about Nepal (may be fake/true). But democracy for Nepal should be for the people of Nepal by the people of Nepal.

Why is not there a referendum to decide whether Nepali people want autocratic rule of King G or Democracy?

Corruption is in the root of Nepali culture. A senior member of the family blesses his/her youngers "Babu, or nani, thulo manchhe bannu, dherai paisa kamaunu". Our parents become proud of us and we gain respect and regards in the society if we earn money, no matter how we earn that money. Secondly, our socio-economic structure is very poor. We have no health insurance and no social securities. As a result, we always tend to stock up ourselves with real estates, machinery and bank balances and make our future financially worry-free. Our Nepali leaders also have come from the same socio-economic and cultural background and we can not expect them to be milk-washed. There are corrupt leaders but in democracy, there is check and balance system and there are people to eliminate them by means of election.

When the government is not doing well, the house can remove the priminister by "no confidence motion". But in autocratic rule, we can not vote off the king or prince. There is no check and balance. The council of minister is just a passive team to execute the orders of the king. In democracy, a minister can disagree with the priminister, express his note of dissent but in the council of the ministers headed by the king himself, thre is no chance that any minister can disagree on what king says.
Actually the present ministers of King G are only poppetts and they have no power. The actual advisors of king are people like Sachchit Samsher Rana, Sharad Chandra Shaha, and many other Shahas and Ranas, the traditional priviledged class who damns cares about the povery of the country and peace in the country is none of their concern. They just want to confirm the supremacy of the king and want to loot the country, hiding behind him.

This is true that yesterday, the democratic leaders rode Indian bicycles and today they travel by luxurious cars. When a priminister brings on a table such a matter, where the hell the king was to stop him? Everyweek, the priminister has to meet the king and report the acitivities of the government and why didn't the Good King alert the priminister?

Let's go back to the time of Prithvi Narayan Shah. He was not a rich man. He had no money to bear the expenses when he was planning to invade Kathmandu. He went to discuss this matter to Bise Nagarchi. The latter gave him one rupee note and suggested the king to collect one rupee from each household. So, what is the source of such a mass of wealth of King and Royal Relatives?

Why did king G increase the allowance of Royal Family almost 6 times more than it used to be before, even after nearly a dozen of Royal Family members already decreased?

King G’s income is

> > 2,426 times higher than that of Chinese president
> > 318 times higher than that of Indian president
> > 301 times higher than that of Pakistani president
> > 173 times higher than that of Russian president
> > 57 times higher than that of French president
> > 15 times higher than that of British president
> > 10 times higher than that of American president

Dr Tulsi Giri mentioned only 9 tola gold in his property details, but when he was blacklisted by the NBL, how come he was able to pay of his debt nearly 2 crore rupees? Who are those undisclosed Indians who donated this money? Why anyone gives money just like that?

> >
Why the hell the government has to pay RS 75,000 a month house rent to Dr Giri’s bungalow?

How come Raj Bahadru Shaha got money to invest in Spice Cell?

I don’t know how many of you still remember the rape and murder of two teens-Namita and Sunita in Pokhara. They were the daughters of secretary of the palace. When the daughters of such a high ranking persons are not safe in King’s rule, what will be fate of others?

Who over rode by car the musician Praveen Gurung?

A stupid army kills brutally a dozen of innocent people in Nagarkot and the king expresses no words of sympathy towards the family of deceased nor takes the responsibility as the supreme of the army or head of the state. What do we expect from such an irresponsible king?

NepaliCNN: RNA declaring a ceasefire and having meaningful discussion with the Maoists is like, as someone pointed out, "US laying down the arms and having a meeting with Osama".
This is how you royalist would try by any means to link up the maoists to terrorism. Maoist issue has its root in Nepali socio-economic structure and is a outcome of corrpution, exploitation, unemployment rampant in Nepal. So, we should not overlook these facts and I believe, this issue should be better managed rather than trying to crush them down.

Sometime, the maoists were indirectly backed by Army. Otherwise, why did the armies not take any action in Holeri when Girija's government ordered them for? Why army's commander shook hand with maoist commander and disobeyed the government? And today, when all political parties have recognized maoist problems and issues and want to reconcile for the betterment of the country, why the armies are set to crush them? Why this double role?

- Here is something I don't get - why are Girija and Makune (and few-other "hot" names) are the only people mentioned when it comes to the parties.

The parties represented me in multiple levels, goddammit. From the ward, ga.bi.sa. level onwards. No, whatever your agenda, you cannot restrict democracy to the political parties alone, and you cannot restrict the political parties to the few people on the top.

I don't give a shit about girija. I despise him. But I voted for a Kangressi for my WODA representative, I voted from someone from UML for the municipality for themselves not for who their party leaders are...
