There are lots of heated discussions going on Sajha about Republic Democracy. But it is hard me to understand some of basic fundamentals and meaning of these terms. I know there is lot of political pundit right here in Sajha. I have some simple questions.

1. What is major difference between REPLUBIC and DEMOCRATIC?
2. If they are same and have same principle why technically there are two different words?
3. What is United States, democratic or Republic?
4. Why India is Republic instead of democratic?

Could somebody help me to understand these terms! Thanks in advance!!!
