I have recently experienced an ongoing sleeplessness issue, tried hard to overcome it but no success yet. I want to solve it without sleep pills, so if anyone knows about about this problem, could your share your ideas/practices on how to treat insomnia?

Do this
________

*Try to go to bed same time every day.

*You might be anxious- drink Lavender tea with no sugar before bed. Search 'Lavender Tea' on Amazon and look for one with "YOGI BRAND". If you can-give up SUGAR completely.

* Take Melatonin supplement. Melatonin is a sleep hormone produced by your body when you sleep. Melotonin supplements are NOT sleeping pills. Available over the counter at Walgreen/CVS.

*Insomnia might be caused by a underlying medical condition. Go see a doctor if you're experiencing any pain in your body or if the situation worsens.

*Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Sometimes, dehydration causes anxiety thus insomnia.

*If you're into Gym/Exercise, going to gym before bed is not a good idea. It will make you much hyper than normal. Go to gym during the day.

Hope this helps.

It is best to see a doctor and maybe do a sleep study. It will cost you in the short term but hey the long term cost of poor sleep is much greater.

Try to write down your thoughts when you are sleepless. Maybe you are anxious. It may also be underlying depression. Again best to consult a physician and maybe a therapist.

Also please look into mindfulness meditation. Many studies have shown it to be very effective against depression and anxiety.

Don't drink coffee after 2pm. Work out at 6 so you get tired by 10 or 11.

If that doesn't work, Take unisom, half a bite of 1 tablet does wonders, I usually pass out for 9 hrs straight when I take it, its an OTC medicine and non habit forming.
