Hello Sajhabashi,

USCIS laai MO pathaeko thiye, but they didn't need that MO. They neither sent it back to me ( which I was hoping). Upon inquiring with them, they want me to go check with the place of MO issuance whether the MO is cashed ( if not I get the money back from the shop). However, since I lost the receipt to it I don't know how would I get them to persuade and get my money back. All I have is a bank statement showing what looks like confirmation number ( but I am pretty sure it's a USPS location number)--BTW I got the MO from USPS.

I was thinking if I could open the case with USPS to do follow up on the basis of the mode of payment used to pay for the MO ( in this case I have last four of the card number that was used). Please advise.

I have not been to such situation, but first thing i would do is go and talk to supervisor of USPS with bank statement . Tomorrow is saturday , they are open till 12 or 1 . go and talk to them. Btw do you have receipt from usps ? which has tracking number of your letter or money order ? seems like they will give you money back or another money order if you have receipt.

If you bought a money order from USPS, there would be no proof in your bank statement that you bought money order. The bank statement shows the amount you withdraw from your statement but it does not show what you did with that money. The only possibility I see here about getting a refund is if you paid for the money order at the USPS with your debit card. In that case, even if you don't have receipt from usps, they might be able to look that up for you and, probably, refund you if that money order has not been cashed. Therefore, just go to the usps and tell them your situation. I think you will get your money back .
