Compared to the 3200 troops sent to Iraq, the presence of over 2200 troops in Ferguson seems to be massive, especially to subdue our own citizens who are out to protest, a right they have been granted by the constitution of the United States.

The Russian lawmaker hits the right chord with his remarks.

US tells other countries about democracy and human rights, while using National Guard to supress protests in Ferguson, Russian Lawmaker Andrei Klishas believes.

MOSCOW, November 26 (Sputnik) – The United States pursues a policy of double standards in dispersing demonstrations in the city of Ferguson, Missouri, a senior Russian parliamentarian told RIA Novosti Wednesday.

“When it comes to ‘orange revolutions’ organized by the West, casualties among the civilian population is a side effect on the road to democracy, but when the US National Guard quells civic protests, they are imposing much-needed order in an emergency situation,” chairman of the Federation Council (Russia’s upper house of parliament) Committee on Constitutional Legislation Andrei Klishas said.

The lawmaker noted that their efforts are “turning back from principles they dictate to the world,” adding that US authorities are "using any means necessary" to quell the unrest in Ferguson.

The St. Louis grand jury's decision on Monday not to indict white police officer Darren Wilson over the fatal shooting of African-American teenager Michael Brown sparked a wave of protests in major US cities on Tuesday. St. Louis Police declared the protests an unlawful assembly, arresting 44 Tuesday and 61 the previous night. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has tripled the number of National Guard troops from 770 to 2,200 Tuesday.

"At the same time, civilians in Syria are dying from US air strikes. Violence is the norm in achieving [a] 'good cause' both within the country and with respect to citizens of other sovereign states," Klishas went on to say.

Earlier in the day, the UN reported the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) in Syria has killed at least 50 civilians since the start of the airstrikes in late September.

You have been watching too much Death Wish movie series while residing in NY. Bring back your sorry ass into the real world.

People of stature, who have so much at stake, are taking it out on social media against police brutality and government inaction . Yet you can't even accept certain truths anonymously. LOL! :D
That's the difference between you and the people of integrity.

Slavery is history.
the only people holding black people slave is black people themselves. They are getting slaved by drugs, laziness, lack of education, gangs etc. Most people say blacks were segregated by white and it is still prevailing. But how long these people will keep cashing food stamp on the name of past slavery. Asian people immigrate to states with no privileges and no money and still succeed here.If not at least most of Asian population lead a middle class life.

The lower you are in the economic ladder the harder it is it to climb iup. It's true anywhere in the world. Against all cycle of socio-economic odds such as poorly equipped inner-city schools, less-accomplished social circles, teen-pregnancies, single-parent households, it is not a herculean task for the black people to get out of poverty and lead a normal middle class life but it would be near impossible for any other race to enjoy the privileges of the Whites and the Jewish people on racial level for sometime to come.

This is a sticky topic. I have attempted to summarize thoughts but did not do it logically though. From this challenging and informative thread, we can only begin to start conversation about larger arguments and constructs. We may all agree that there is no single self-fulfilling argument to this discourse. In Grad School at Stat 101 class my Professor presented an analogy of ice cream sales and crime in summer. Crime surged in summer, so did the ice cream sales. Could a high rate of crime in summer be correlated to ice cream sales? IMO, some very strong arguments are presented here; we agree that as distinct human beings our reading of Ferguson events are unique and not imitable. But it would be an understatement to conclude that we are not swayed by our own prejudices. I have tried to copy and paste some pointers from above which can serve as food for thought.

@GeetMaiJawaafDiu : The lower you are in the economic ladder the harder it is it to climb up.
@tihar: The only people holding black people slave is black people themselves. They are getting slaved by drugs, laziness, lack of education, gangs etc.
@facebook: Few year back one cop was shot in NYC, only fault his was he went to clear dispute of a black man and his wife
@GeetMaiJawaafDiu: Be careful folks, even being noticed holding a fork in an argument in a restaurant when a cop happens to be dining at the next table could prove to be fatal - a mistake you will never get a chance to learn from.

Many years back I worked at a Gas Station in Fuller Park neighborhood of Chicago. Statistically, this inner city community is consistently ranked No.1 for violent crime in that region. That was my first year in US and I was a student (psst). My perception of the demographics that I encountered there, every day, was not sympathetic. It so happened that 92% population of that inner city was black. A big housing community next to the gas station was called “Projects” – a City subsidized housing that accommodated only economically disadvantaged people. In my many months working at that particular Gas station, I do not recall anyone purchasing gas worth more than $20. As a cashier I was robbed 2 times while working night shift (although there was no more than $40 in the register at any given time), robbed 1 time near my apartment, had a break in at my apartment and while I was working, there were 3 instances of dive-by-shootings; one instance where one of my frequent ‘Dutch Master’ customer was fatally shot. In many of these violent occasions, cops would come after the incident and collect witness accounts, testimonials etc. One question amongst the flood of questions was ‘description of the criminal. Was he Hispanic, Black, Caucasian?’ Unfortunately, I did not encounter any other race that I could’ve described to the policeman. But then again, the population of the neighborhood was 92% black – so my argument here is fallacious. I would encounter same cultural skewness had I worked in Saudi Arabia, Japan or New Canaan, Connecticut. Honestly, when I was working there I loathed the people whom I dealt with because I perceived most of them as criminals. Then when I really think about it I was a criminal too, if you know what I mean. I had a chance to game the system. My forefathers had a chance to game the system in Nepal (through religious or cultural hierarchy) the fruits of which laid a path for me to come here in US (and unfortunately lecture about this topic). Whereas my fellow brother from Dolpa, whose forefathers could not game the system, is grilling his ass in a Qatari dessert as I write this. There are both historical and cultural contexts at play here. During my south side days, many times in my casual conversation with customers, especially kids, I asked them what class they liked most at school, they’d say Gym. What do you want to do when you grow up? Football Player. In that context one would relate to “Bring Your A Game – Kevin Liles Story” at www.snagfilms.com (6) Also - Former Morehouse College president Benjamin E. Mays, noted in his autobiography, Born to Rebel, that his pursuit of education beyond the elementary level was delayed not only by the repressive racial social order of early 20th century South Carolina, but also by his father’s insistence that he stay and work the farm. His father, a former slave, consistently stated, “Weren’t there only two honest occupations for Negro men—preaching and farming?”(8)
Although armed with the trove of historical, cultural and economic information, the only thing I could do is regurgitate old cliché about economics, politics and history. The information and argument I presented here is not new. We understand and generalize that multitude of issues exist in policing inner cities of America. Michael Brown, Trevon Martin, Eric Garner should be read in conjunction with these issues but police impunity should never be tolerated.

Why are Nepalese so racists when it comes to blacks. Must be the influence they carried over from Hindi movies they grew up watching where they presented Africans as monsters. Most nepali immediately resort looking for a justifications for the violence against the blacks.

I don't like 50 cents and I don't like the Emenems but the fact about this country is that 50 cents are far more likely to get shot by police than Emenems. The treatment is always harsher for 50 cents and benefit if doubt is always higher for Emenem.

Now some of you probably take side because of your existing prejudice against the black thinking you are not a thug but in your own contex you will be treated with lesser of a benefit of doubt than a fellow white. Most of you are unable to see that.

What kind of benefit are we talking about?
Like getting arrested instead of getting shot at.
But then i think even if it were a black cop and some white teenager was charging at him the results in Ferguson would have been same.
The minute i saw the video of him robbing a convenience store i stopped supporting for this cause. It 's not about him being black as media is portraying it to be, it is about a person with questionable background getting killed by a police in the line of duty.
In any which other way looking at his background and his videos of robbing i feel like we lost a future drug dealer. His profile will increase adding to his resume. We didn't lose MLK.

You are getting it all wrong.there is no end to talking about why and what happens because of slavery. I am merely saying that word is degratory. I am pretty sure you can use better judgement.Change happens when you start changing yourself. What some people choose to do in the name of slavery and segregation is their choice right or wrong?
Use better judgement I am pretty sure you don't want be called names yourself. You didn't go through slavery, don't justify your actions by giving vague reasons like I do it because they do it.If they do it that's their choice , I am asking you take the higher road, view is pretty nice from up here. the least you can and should do is not put kerosene in already lit fire.
Hopefully you understand.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Color black is associated with fear. Our culture is filled with mythogocial stories where monsters are dark. Anything black is undesired in nepalese culture. So I guess this is one of the main reasons why Nepalese hate black people. The other being, "stockholm syndrome". They work like slaves to the white majority that they end up adorning the same masters. As a result the enemy of their racist masters become their own enemy.
Facebook might have worked in gas stations and faced robberies by blacks. But he needs to look beyond these trivial incidents. He needs to look at the reasons, the culture, the pattern. In other words, he need to grow up or smart up.

Getting robbed is trivial?
I think that is life threatening experience and people have lost lives to robberies. It will traumatize you until very long time.
