Buddha was born in Nepal. So what?

Buddha was born in Nepal. So what?
Yes, Buddha was born in Lumbini, around 2600 years ago, which is now in Nepal.
The real question we should be asking each-other now in Nepal is:

Would Buddha want to be re-born in Nepal now?

  1. Would he approve of our pin-drop silence against injustice and impunity in Nepal?
  2. Would he salute the long lines of young men and women in a hurry to leave their motherland, that our elders turned into a place of dead-ends and despair?
  3. Would he embrace his fellow Nepalis who try to divide themselves along our castes, religions and material wealth?
  4. Would he keep smiling while some of his countrymen sell our own girls or kill our own kin in the name of change?
  5. Would he help us when we prefer to sit silent like sheep while our rulers rape any dignity that is left in us?

So before we get over-sentimental about Buddha’s birthplace, why don’t we first take some time off to learn what he actually taught. Bring to heart, what he really fought for 2600 years ago? Believe in his middle way first?

I am going to cherish the day when we Nepalis can declare instead:

“Yes Buddha would love to reborn right here in Nepal”

Enough of us Nepalis talking about his birthplace without taking his teachings into heart. It is time for you and me, to stop being simply a talker or advisor, but to be a ‘doer’, one that will make Buddha proud that he wants to be reborn here again. Are you up for this challenge?

As for me, I am on a quest to make Buddha proud that he was born in Nepal.
Join me.

How can somebody be reborn after getting final liberation (Nirvana)? This is against the Vedantic and Buddhist philosophy. Body is inert; atma dwells in the body and when one gets final liberation, atma is freed from the cycle of birth and death. Your proposition about rebirth of Buddha is just illogical. And again, "Buddha" is a sanskrit word which literally means "to be wise."

The sub-title is misleading. I will rephrase it. For ex: Would wise people like Buddha want to live in present Nepal? or something like it. When you associate time and space with Buddha, its connecting ideas becomes somewhat childish though the argument may be to the point. All I want to say is please don't confuse people with your jugglery of words. Words are merely sounds and sounds are merely ideas. Buddha went beyond ideas.

Buddha was not born in Nepal. Buddha was born in Lumbini, which was part of Kapilvastu Kingdom, Which lies in present day Nepal. Nepal at that time was confined within KTM valley.

Saying Buddha was born in Nepal, will be equal to saying Dalai Lama was born in China (or Dalai lama is Chinese), because Tibet is part of China. Since Dalai Lama is not Chinese, Buddha was not Nepalese.

Even if you claim Buddha was Nepali, he was not of Pahadi origin, he was madhesi, so you can definitely call him dhoti, like you do while addressing people from Terai.

1. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was born in British empire because at the time of Gandhi's  birth there was no country called India, it was British empire, So Gandhi was British
2. Mahatma Gandhi was born in British empire, not in India because by the time people started to call him "mahatma" there was no country called India , it was still a part of British Empire.
3. Gandhi gain the status of Mahatma in british Empire, so he was born not in India but in British empire.Once again Gandhi was British

4. George Washington was born in  British empire  not in united states of America because at the time of his birth present day USA did not exists, it was under British empire. So Geroge wasington waas British

5. First president of United States of america was not first President because at the time of his Presidency, present day United States was not in its full form, there were lesser states, capital was different.

6. Albert Einstein, was not German, was not born in Germany because at the time of his birth there was no present day Germany, he was born in Kingdom of Württemberg

7. Albert Einstein was not born in German because he became "Einstein" because of his education in Switzerland, so Einstein was born in Switzerland.

8. Mother Teresa was Indian, not Albanian because her work in India made her "Mother Teresa".

9. Madam Curie was Russian, not polish because at the time of her birth, kingdom of Poland was under Russian Empire.

10. Madam Curie, was French, no polish because her study and work in France made her Madam Curie, She became famous because of french un university so, she is french, not polish

11. Babur (or Babar) was Indian not Uzbek . Babar was born in India not in Uzbekistan he became so famous because of his  empire in central Asia (part of which is in present day India).

12. Nehru, was British not Indian  because he was born in British Empire.

13, Genghis Khan is a Muslim , because his name bears "khan", he must be an Indian

14. Adolf Hitler was born In Germany, Not in Austria because of his activity in Germany he became (in)famous.

15. Prithibi Naran shah, is not a Nepali because at the time of his birth there was no country called Nepal.

If we follow logic Indians are using to justify their claim, world History will turn upside down. It needs to be rewritten

We all are fools if we think he's born in this country or that country. He's born on Earth. Period.
Why make a fuss yall..? Don't keep your mind/brain so small, think cosmic, not pathetic patriotic.
We're here on Earth. When you're born, it's Earth, not some land called Nepal or USA hanging up
there in the middle of the sky. It's right here on Earth, yes EARTH. If it were like those floating
mountains in the movie 'Avatar' I would have agreed and sworn to all these claims. But whao!
Right after you are born, you are brainwashed when your consciousness
awakes to realize things around you.  <read what I wrote twice/thrice
if you are feeling agitated, else I apologize if you don't get what I meant>
