To all those who have free time or no job and want to do anything to survive...there is free money flying around bay area....

Please do not make unnecessary comments if this does not entice you. This message is only for those people who are desparate to find anything in the bay area.

What you do is go to UHaul or any other storage places. You hang on there all day. Do nothing. Except for when there are people who rent the storage places stop by to either clean up or to put new stuffs..

This is where you give hand-- and for a quick 10/15 minutes work of helping them move their furniture you make at least 15 to 20 bucks and it can go up...depending upon how the person taking you help is. If you can find 4 or 5 deals like that the whole day..You can easily make on average 70 to 100 bucks a day. Cash. You'll probably end up ACTUALLY working a couple of hours.

The second way to make money is a little bit different. Some U Haul's storage unit have (Trash area)...Its not the dumster..its an area located inside the building. Its an area designated where people who rent storage can leave what THEY DON'T WANT. And a lot of time, WHAT THEY DON'T WANT will make you money. You need to have a truck, be able to store things like...beds, furniture, TV etc..It depends on what you get. But you can get really good stuffs..Once you get them, take them and store them wherever possible, you can sell those products anyway you can. Through craigslist, ebay, amazon, yard sale, flea market.

So, there is hope for people who wanna throw in the towel...And of course..this is just 1 way of making free money..there must be many more..but this is all I have found! Hope it helps!

I'm sorry but "यो नेपाली सिर उचाली, संसारमा चम्किञ्छ!" I wouldn't even suggest this for someone working in crappy conditions in the middle east. You're better off doing menial jobs like dishwashing or working as a clerk in a grocery store than standing outside U-Haul and hoping someone will seek your help and in return, allow you to make easy money. More often than not, Nepalese around the U.S. are often considered as hard-working and diligent workers. There are plenty of jobs and opportunities out there.

Instead of seeking this way, why not join an IT consultancy? Take 6 weeks of training, get a resume of 7-8 yrs of experience and make 25-30 bucks an hour? This sort of 'free/easy' money is often seen as a boon for illegal immigrants who are usually seen outside Home Depot and other similar hardware outlets. We're not that desperate to resort to this path, are we?

 Well, some people even don't have that 6 week to survive on their own. That is why I mentioend this post is for those who really need it. Also with IT, same shit happens differently. You're also hussling in IT. You take the crappy training, you go as "nakkali inspector" and end up socially proud/internally dissatisfied (coz you're 6 weeks of traning makes you next to unqualified.

We all have our take. I would not mind working along with illegal mexicans or whoever as long as there is free money without harming anyone. In IT, what recruiters as well as consultants do is professional hussling. They not only hussle but even shuffle people (a working as b). How criminal is that? Its all perception. Some people like crappy food in a great restuarant; just because they wanna be part of that group who visited the restaurant and others are happy with cheap street vendors. I don't know if you know this but one of the world's richest guy named Warren Buffett made his childhood money by searchng for and collecting free golf balls in the gulf clubs and sell them to whoever needed them. I'm not in the situation where I am needing to work the way I mentioned, but If I needed to, I'd! And I did not say that you have to make your living out of it. Its a temporary fix. I have 10 friends, but if I need 2000 bucks.. I have to call home! There are several in the same situation. Of course there are people who can get whatever they need easily and there are even more who don't need anything as life is chill!

This sounds not a bad idea for someone who needs it.
Best part of this is you are working for yourself!!!

 yep.. and I also mentioned about collecting free furnintures from the storage units and selling them however you can! But you need a truck. It won't pay all of your bills but its a good hobby that you can have. Sort of like Storage war in TV but its free and no war at all. You pick the leftover.

The best part is client is happy because for whatever reason..the size of the next apartment or the increase in their income or how tired the client is or what mood they are in or how busy they are at the time of their visit to the storage unit makes them impulsive and want them to throw good stuffs away. The company (storage unit) is also happy coz they don't have to take those to the dumbster for city to pick up. And you're also happy coz you get to choose what you want to pick up. Not like you have to pick up everything.

 Informative post, but can you really call it as a FREE money? I doubt. You are spending time and effort to earn money. Time is precious my friend.

 Yes its not free. Its a work you can find on your own, without the help of anyone. Especially good for bay area people who just relocated, and don't know anyone. Rent is too damn high in bay area! So, it makes sense for those who are considering leaving the Bay Area all together as they're not able to find the job at the moment.

@piano,

agree 100%. It is surely an option for those without an option. I have done different types of such odd jobs back in those days when i was s student.

I knew a white lady who would go hunting for free stuff left outside the house and would re-sell it to second hand shops for a profit. She did it sometimes like as a hobby and one day she was telling me how she got a few hundred bucks doing that. i wonder how profitable it would be to buy from a garage sale and sell it on ebay. I am sure people are doing that too.
