First kind says "Jai Madhes. Jai Sworaj"
Second kind says "Jai Nepal. Jai Madhes"
Third kind has only spent a week in madhes and supports madhes in social media.

Question about the third kind: Can't anybody who has never spent any time in Madhesh support Madhesh in social media? Why the negative connotation?

Third kind does not know whether they are supporting the first kind or the second kind.

Why the negative connotation? - Kiddo

I know a guy who belongs to the third kind. He was not only born and raised in Kathmandu but also comes from a very affluent family in Kathmandu. Maybe his father or grandfather is originally from Madhesh. This guy now posts everyday on facebook that Madhesis are the most marginalized people in Nepal, each and every single demand the Madhesis are making is fair and this ongoing blockade is absolutely reasonable. I agree that the Madhesis deserve fair treatment. But to me it seems like the people belonging to "the third kind" are such active proponents of the Madhesis' demands just because they share the same ethnicity/race/caste. They are not supporting the Madhesi aandolan for the right reason and I wouldn't hesitate to denounce "the third kind" at all.

To be fair, even those who have lived in Madhesh might not know which kind they are supporting. My point is, you don't have to have lived in Madhesh to support its cause.

I do agree that not many are clear on what exactly we want. If I were a madhesi, I might ask for "swaraaj" just because it is better to be governed/screwed up by my own people than others, but is that in the interest of the country as a whole?

We all have our kinds, I guess, this is my list:

1. Jai Madhesh, jai swaraj.
2. Live and let live. Screw this politics, let us live our life.
3. I didn't really care about the governance, heck I hated our own leaders. But you guys have really not cared about making the truce and still treat us as second citizens, so now that we have gained some momentum, I will support the blockade just to show you that we deserve equal respect.

According to Sage Vasistha, there are ONLY three kinds of people:
1) Fools
2) People who practice meditation & concentration
3) Enlightened beings

There is a fourth kind, the kind that lives in USA and supports the blockade while the whole of Nepalis suffer everyday to eat their food because even electricity is running out. There was no electricity in my locality for 7 days. It just came back yesterday and it was only 50% dim power for most of the day.

I know a few of that kind MlnNpl. It's just that you can't put everybody in that category. You don't have to be a Madhesi to ask for their rights.

Many people, rightfully, remember how Madhesis were treated in the streets of Kathmandu. That's what they have seen and then immediately make the connection that Madhesis were oppressed all these years so all of their demands should be met. The reality is more complex. Had you been to the actual Madhesh, you would have realized that the oppression was by different group of people. That very group of people are the so called leaders of Madhesi movement now.

What we tend to forget is it wasn't just the Madhesh, but the entire country was "oppressed." We aren't one of the poorest countries in the world for no reason. Go look at a Parvate dai and compare his life style with a madhesi bhai, you won't find much difference in their living standard - both are suffering. Yes, the representation in the government is not proportional, but that can be increased without dividing the country.

I agree with Kiddo and I support for the cause of the Madhesis. But my empathy for ktmrulez and millions of other suffering Nepalis is stronger now. The situation in Nepal is terrible and is getting worse with each passing day. The poorer you are, the harder you are getting hit by the blockade. The lack of medicines and other essential supplies is causing slow deaths of many people (especially the poor ones). The whole country is regressing. This blockade is inhumane and its supporters, Madhesis or not, are not even humans. I feel like Madhesis are alienating non-Madhesis with this blockade instead of winning their support.

Agree. But why just call out the suffering from blockade? Why so comfortably discount the criminal govt that let the earthquake victims suffer for 8 months before providing relief? Who does the buck stop with in ANY crisis? Is it not the PM/govt? Why are we OK with them not having any accountability or responsibility?

What you should be mad at is the fact that we don't have a mechanism in Nepal to quickly and democratically remove a govt if they are not performing...in this case way to under-performing, to put it politely.

सरकार कायर मात्र हैन, अपराधी हो for not giving a shit about the crisis. Until we wake up and start to demand accountability and are outraged that some dumbasses are being allowed to rule the daily lives of 28 million people, Nepalis will continue to suffer...perpetually.
