How do you guys call your family/friends back in Nepal? I am using a calling card called Amantel, just wondering if there are any better options.
And, can you top up prepaid NTC from the US?
Click below and sign up for $10 you will get $10 bonus and it's very reliable card. Once you sing up you can refer your friends and family including your Gtalk no. you will get another $10.... it goes on and on, The best thing about this card is you don’t have to dial 011-977….. you save a no and just press talk. It only take out 1 min. if you talk less than 60 second and never expire………..Great card for short and long talk.

Skype jindaabad.
Why pay money for just voice conversation when you can do video chat for free.
Assumption: both sides have computers (or smart phones) and internet connection with sufficient bandwidth, which is the case in Kathmandu.
why don't you tell them to call you....It just cost Rs 2/min from NTC prepaid mobile which is way cheeper than calling from here....
IH;
Once you go out of country , they do not need you any more but you need them and wanted to call. You are the one who wanted to update your status and many of us ( sajha visitors) do not agree on the advice like yours. I had done that in past. Keep in touch via FB.
calling from US to Nepal: raza.com, cheap yet reliable. I've been using their service for past 6 months or so and it's been a good experience.
calling from Nepal to US: add 1424 before your phone #, i.e. if you phone # is 222-222-2222; it should be dialed as 1424-1-222-222-2222. costs Rs.2-3/minute.
Hope that helps.
and about recharging NTC mobile from US: I explored that a while ago; couldn't find a way to do that. Let me know if you discover something useful.
Use CALLFOREIGN.COM to recharge NTC mobile.
