Mr. Prahlad KC was in Los Angeles, California to participate in the Black Tie Event and Nepal Trade Promotion event led by Nepali minister of Commerce. Mr KC also had NRN USA membership appllication forms to those interested. I filled the application and gave him the annual membership fee of $10 cash. He said he will send the acknowledgement by email, but never heard back after he left. I am not worried about $10 but his assurance to me then.... I do not have any evidence if Mr KC asks me if I ever applied for NRN USA membership, as I had filled out the form in the event place and didn't make a copy of the application...Probably he is too busy in these trivial stuffs, but why he pursued one to become a member when he has a obligation to acknowlege the receipt of application and application fee... I am just questioning the President's style of operation, not about him in person....

I may be wrong, but any second thoughts about it??

Being a Nepali-not at all surprised.I'd have asked my money right  back there and then if they din't provide me with any acknowledgment of the membership on the spot. I am guesssing it was an easy money  for that President dude.

Lack of professionalism and standardization is a given among all these presidents, it must be said.

I didn't ask for a receipt as I didn't have any streak of doubt and also he seemed softspoken gentleman spreading big ideas about turning Kathmandu trash into energy (some $200 million project??). But, after he taking money from me he said he will send an acknowlegement by email. There were Mantri, big nepali businessmen, and US embassador for Nepal, and many other Nepali daju bhai didi bahini on that event and NRN USA had one small table with membership application forms printed in colors. I had no doubt if he won't send a receipt when application and the fee for was handed to the NRN USA President-- indeed a rare opportunity to me!

Thanks god I didn't apply for the life membership that would be something like $500

Riddle-- Isn't NRN card issued from the Nepal embassy? I will apply for one in near future ...

From my understanding, yes, it is issued by the Nepalese Embassy in DC. But I thought investing a substantial amount in Nepal was one of the most important criterias for being eligible.....

You know why every customer has two hands?
Simple answer is : so that you pay with one hand and get a receipt with the other hand, especially, when you pay cash.

You are abetting the so-called President's questionable way of handling business. If an individual with such an inflated designation cannot lead by example, who else can you (or we) count on? If the receipt is supposed to arrive via the Internet then you might wanna sign up online rather.

I have seen even taxi-drivers becoming Presidents in some Nepali communities. I don't look down upon any occupation in the economic ecology but the point is; there are plenty of able individuals who can really lead just that they are not willing to deal with association officers who represent the organization in this manner.

 Riddle,
I guess there is a small one time hefty fee to get the NRN card so that you have privileges to invest in Nepal or buy 2 ropani of property in KTM, etc....

Geetmaijafdiu-- Agreeed...

Ahile samma pani tyo das ruppe ko rasid napathayeko hunda tyo manchhe le kwaplakka khayechha kyare! Lamo kot ko khalti ma nagad khusukka rakhya thiyo....

I wonder what will happen to one from the solicited for investment in the millions of dollar project on generating electricity from Kathmandu's trashes... think twice before deciding to invest....
