To all current and future Grad Students
Good luck to all aspirants!
Welcome to the post-financial crisis world, everyone irresponsible is going to get bailed out at the expense of the taxpayers' money.
Thank you Obama.
tm, will you please make it clear what you mean by "everyone irresponsible is going to bailed out at the expense of the taxpayers' money"?
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you think every grad student is irresponsible. That's just ignorant of you. I don't know if non-science grad students get stipends, but students in science working their but off to discover things that otherwise would be unknown deserve that money. And btw, do a quick google search on how much biomedical research alone (since i don't know about other research fields) gives back to the society for every dollar you spend on "irresponsibles" like us.
Good job, Jantare to bring this topic in Sajha. Hope most of the Sajha wasi haru will spend few minutes to vote for this. And, I don't think tm fully understood what he said so just ignore.
I hope the Budget Super Committee is reading this post. Thanks to social media tools like facebook, twitter, and the likes, any group, minority or majority alike, can try their hands at group bargaining.
In order to avoid the fate faced by nations like Greece or Italy, US needs to expand its tax base and dramatically reduce spending. I am for tax reduction for every consumer not just for people smart enough to look out for themselves. Do not forget two-thirds of US economy is driven by consumers who can kick off the trickle-down effect. Entrepreneurs or employers who directly recruit new workers to their payroll and sustain them for a specified minimum length of time should also be given tax breaks. The students-turned-entrepreneurs who leave college to start their own company should be incentized for creating jobs. Call me ignorant but this is what makes sense to me.
My initial response was actually directed to the seekers of "student loan relief".
Peace now!
