Most of the students who were deported didn't maintain their F1 status. One  must maintain  GPA to continue one's study . Some students think nothing will happen if they don't maintain their F1 status. F1 visa is considered more prioritized for checking status  by ICE because students are supposed to study while they are here.If one doesn't maintain GPA 2 out of 4 then one will be deported back to home country.  Therefore , I suggest all students in U.S.A to  study well and maintain you GPA. Thank you.

poon-hill bro , If one has less than 2 Gpa at first , then College or University will send you  a letter .It says one is on Probation now. and one has  to maintain 2 GPA next semester or you will be out of College or University. After receiving less than 2 GPA on two straight semester , one will be dropped from college. None of the College or University will give admission again. It is very hard to get admission. There is only one chance that one can apply first college or University When one came to USA. But , admission is not guaranted.

Thank you.

@ Jantarei: Why don't you keep your advice with yourself. No one choose to be out of status.

geek: oh yeah? why do they sell cigars and liquor to minors? why do they work against the law (2ohrs/wk for F1 student)? why do they get drunk all weekend and not study a thing and destroy their GPA? did I tell them to do that or did they choose to do so on their own? it's all your choice: what you do and how you do it. if you can't live by the law, you better be prepared to face the consequences, in this case deportation!

look at the words you are writing geek, who's ignorant? did i say anything wrong? anything bad to you? and yet you are writing those words; what are you trying to accomplish? that you are civilized and educated than me? well, good luck with that. if you don't like what i write, just ignore it. you are the one who started argument and if you can't argue in good terms, don't take refuge of your slangs to show what king of parenting you received.
once again, i read your statement and i'm saying again, they did illegal things knowing that they might get deported. i.e, they chose to do so. if you want me to explain this in simpler terms so that you can understand, let me know, i'll write in nepali next time.

btw, i don't give a damn about DV. I'm a F-1 student and i know what it means to be a F-1 student. go learn some manners first and come argue with me.

@jantare1
What a great thinking. True everything u said is true and I would love to abide by all the laws. But I want to ask you how many hours you work or may be you used to work?? Just to remind you that most of the times people have to struggle and work outside the lines too. I was on F1 and I understand that u have to do whatever it takes just to continue study. So I feel bad when Students are sent back when they are just trying to pay for their college and get a degree. And for other students who get drunk and do stupid things I don't have any thing to say for them.
On the other note, I have heard from three different professor about their struggle when they were on F1. They were also busting their ass in gas stations (working illegally) before they had a degree and all Nepali brothers and sisters who do not have full scholarships are still doing the same thing. I don't see a ethical problem but it is against the law and have to be careful. Even the people who gave student visa to students knew that so no big deal.
PS whatever it takes means working hard and I said all students work coz I ignored very few percentage of students who can afford to study without working

andhikhola, i work 20 hours/wk fall and winter and full time spring-summer.
i know that it's hard to pay for college and people work illegally to do so. and I'm not saying that they should stop doing that. like you said, they gotta do what they have to do to keep themselves in college and i agree with that but if they get deported, it's because of the choice they made. all i'm saying is if you break the law, you better be prepared to face the consequences. i'm not saying that it's morally wrong. i'd like to point out one thing you said : " Even the people who gave student visa to students knew that so no big deal. ' i don't think that's true. if it's not a big deal, why are we hearing news about students getting deported every week? breaking law is serious thing and people better be careful if they decide to do so

It's good to know that u work 20 hrs weekly but look, all the colleges do not offer jobs and most of the students have to look for alternatives. I have many friends who were working outside colleges quit their job and started working on campus when they got a job. I am not aspiring anyone to work outside either but sometimes it might be the reality. Yo kura sabai lai thaha nai Chha ki dherai jasto hamro daju bhai ra didi bahini kaam garchan but it is just temporary thing and we all aspire to graduate and contribute in the society wherever it might be. If someone is caught I am not gonna be saying kucchinh khayis would rather feel bad. Every one did what they had to do, even the people who caught them did what they were supposed to do. Just chill and let other people struggle if we can't help them by inspiring people to work hard we should not denounce who tried either.
You are working in the college so you should be trying to put the names of universities who offer the jobs on campus so that new students could come and work legally without getting in trouble and stop acting like selfish moron. I am pretty sure that majority will take that in mind.
Do you seriously think that yo desh ko manchhe haru joslai

that was long, and i agree with what you are saying. i'm not saying "khuching" to anyone. there are some people who might say, but i'm not like that. and i feel bad (little bit) for those who were deported and i think that shouldn't have happened but nobody can stop what's supposed to happen. life goes on, people gotta be careful about what they are doing, that's all i have to say.

btw, if all those nepali students hadn't cheated on homeworks, projects, and exams and forced my university to no longer take Nepali (just Nepali, other international students are still getting admission) students, i wouldn't mind inviting people to my university. even honest students like me are treated bad by school administration just because of those idiots who pride in themselves saying they are doing "great" in their studies but the fact is, they spend more time designing tacticts to cheat rather than studying. nepali haru jaha gaye pani 2-4 jana samma thik hunchha, ali thulo group huna thalepachhi pura university durgandhit banaidinchhan, might not be true elsewhere, but that's  what it is here.

Cheating is a big problem and it gradually decreases as the students get used to the universities over here. Cheating deserves harsh punishment still, sending back is too harsh of a punishment.
On the other note I heard that those students were all from collin county college and college got tired of students not maintaining their status so they called.
