 Hello Friends,

While backing up my car, i hit someone's car and his car was not damaged at all and he said it was Okay but my Rear Bumpar and Tail light is damaged and i've a Full Coverage Insurance with ($1000 deductible).

Can i reduce my Deductible and file claim after few weeks as Hit and Run ? What else is the best idea to do ? Please suggest.
It would proably cost around $800-$900 to fix it but i don't have money to pay from my pocket.

I was thinking  after reducing my deductible to $100, file a police report as hit and run after about a month and then claim it....What do you guys suggest ?

Thank you
Guy_tensed.

That 1000 decuctible sucks? His car did not budge but yours is damaged that much means you hit a big turck?
If bumber is okay to drive , keep driving, go to the junk yard and get the tail light and replace it.

I hate to read partial info, and seems your were driving a Hundai other wise it would not be getting that much damaged.
You can check the bumper at the junk and find somebody to replace it. , on the street people may charge you 100 but the sad part is it to find the exact color bumper.
If drivable and does not look bad, keep driving with replacing the tail light , do not report the damage.

I wouldn't do it and would strongly discourage it. These guys are very good in catching those kind of insurance claims. You might get arrested for certain charges. It's not worth taking that much of risk.

Hit and Run = same deductible.
Have the car repaired  yourself.

You didn't say which make, model and year your car is? If it is a late model car with still shining paint with no dents or streaks, you sure don't wanna drive your car with a broken bumper. So, get it fixed from your pocket money. There are always cheaper ways and places to get it fixed. If it is just the rear bumper, you should get it done for less than 500. Either you can buy a new or salvaged one and get it painted for the matching color, you have many better choices; don't go through that fraud thing; you never know the consequences.

And 1000 deductible? How much more premium you have to pay if you reduce by 500? If it is not that much, get 500 deductible.

This deductible sucks man ! I have 500 and my estimate was 800 and I have to put 500 for getting 300 !! It will cost 400 or somthing in cheap shop! So I had only option was not to repair !
Now a days insurance company are being smart they will wend check in repair center name and your name !

You are asking us if you should try to scam the insurance company and commit a fraud?
You want to risk going to jail for $1000?
