शायद दिनभरको भागदौड र थकाईले गर्दा बिरलै यो बिषयप्रति चासो हुन्छ होला । तर जब जब म यो कुरालाई फर्स्टह्यान्ड अनुभव गर्छु मन साह्रै कुँडिन्छ । एभरेष्ट रेस्टुराँको बारेमा मैले मेसो पाएको यस्तै एक महिना जति भयोहोला । यस एक महिनाको अन्तरालमा म करिव करिव यहाँको रेगुलरजस्तै भईसकेँ। भित्री बातावरण आनन्ददायी छ, परिचारिकाहरुपनि मिजासिला छन, खानापनि ठिकै छ । तर जब मेरा आँखा त्यो रेस्टुराँको बिलबोर्ड साइनतिर पुग्छ मन अलि खल्लो हुन्छ। हामी नेपालीहरु बुद्ध नेपालमा जन्मिएका हुन, एभरेष्ट नेपालमा पर्छ भनेर विश्व जनमानसलाई सचेत गराइराख्छौ। तर हामीहरुले नै किन यसरी बाटो दिने ? मलाई थाहा छ DFW जस्तो सिमित बजार भएको ठाउँमा नेपालको नाउँ मात्रले व्यापार गर्दा त्यति लाभदायक नहोला र नेपाली उद्यमीहरुले नेपाली बिज्नेसमा भारतीय नाम जोड्छन ताकि उनिहरुको clientele बढोस् । तर यसले कस्तो दीर्घकालिन असर पर्ला ?के नेपाली रेस्टुराँमा हिन्दी गाना बजाउन जरुरी छ? के नेपाली रेस्टुराँमा B4U म्युजिक च्यानल लगाउन जरुरी छ? के नेपालमा कलाकारहरु छैनन र हिन्दी गीत बजाउन परेको? कुटुम्ब, सुर सुधा, अन्य लोकभाका, पपगीत कति सुमधुर छन। के यी संगीतहरु बजाउन सक्किन? निकट भविष्यमा नै कान्तिपुर टि.भी डिस् नेट्वोर्कमार्फत अमेरिका आउँदैछ। चट्ट एक कुनामा कान्तिपुर टि.भी , अर्को कुनामा नेपाली गीत संगीत, अनि पो मज्जा आउछ नेपाली रेस्टुराँमा खाना खान। अनि के एभरेष्ट ईण्डियन हिमालयन रेस्टुराँको ठाउँमा एभरेष्ट नेपाल रेस्टुराँ, अनि तलपट्टी नेपाली एण्ड ईण्डियन कुजिन भनेर साइन बनाउन सक्किनथ्यो? कति कति लगानी गरेर त्यत्रो बिज्नेस चलाउन विवेक हुनेले यति सानो (तर सम्वेदनशील) कुरामा बिचार पुर्याउन सक्किनँ ? नत्रभने खुरुक्क ईण्डियन रेस्टुराँ भन्ने अनि ईण्डियन खान बेच्ने र नेपाली खानचाँही साइडमा बेच्ने किनभने मलाई "मोही माग्ने तर ढुङ्रोचाँही लुकाउने" प्रव्रीती त्यति ठीक महसुस हुँदैँन (जे भएपनि नेपालीको रेस्टुराँ भन्ने थाहा भएपछी नेपाली ग्राहकहरु त यसैपनि आइहाल्छन--यसकालागि नेपाली रेस्टुराँनै भनेर नाम राख्न जरुरी छैन ) । त्यसैपनि यस रेस्टुराँको बिस्नेस मुख्यत: नेपाली ग्राहकबाट हुन्छ नकि ईण्डियन या अमेरिकन ग्राहकबाट । नेपाली रेस्टुराँ भनेका विश्व जनमानसलाई नेपाल र नेपालीकाबारेमा जानकारी पठाउने एउटा सशक्त माध्याम हो यसरी यसप्रति खेलवाड गरेर गलत सुचना प्रवाह नगरौ ।

I really liked ur views birkrishna ji. Thank u for bringing up this pt. here coz ppl (the owners) sud really think abt it. They can earn the money in the other way as u suggested as well. Personally, i dont watch dhoti movies nor listen dhoti songs coz i can enjoy much more with our nepali music where we have lots of variety. It gives us the nepali flavor with the nepali music or dhun while we r in the restaurant. All the restaurants sud take care of this coz not all nepalese enjoy dhoti channels. once again thanks for the post n i respect ur feelings.

KP Oli, Jahala Nath Khanal, MaKuNe Su/KuJata ... you count them, all love Inida so much more than anything. Not only that, all other ordinary people of Nepal, they love India so much. Only few of us who boycott Indian music, movie, and goods are on minority. I personally, don't even buy indian groceries. You will even see here some sajhaists come up with Indo-views. Let's see.

The owner of this restaurant is used to work as the cook at nearby Temptation Restaurant of Irving, Dallas. Best of luck!!!! Whatever name he set in his restaurant, this is his investment, none of others business!!! If you don't like name, you are not force to go there, don't mix up with business and patriotism.

We are getting more dependent and getting slave everywhere, and now children do not study like you and me did and anything misspelled the computer will help us to correct it , we just need to know how and where to click. I think he/she did not put that extra effort.
Let me be sarcastic: just knowing to spell patriotism has nothing to do with the subject. Most of the comments are full of bullshit and crap, some are in rush to comment because they love it but does they make any sense, they think they did but we reader do not get it.

I guess, they could at least try to do some research on what Nepalese cuisine could be marketable here. I agree that indian cuisine is more saleable than Nepali ones; but at least for the sake of it, it'd be good if they add one extra page for Nepali cuisine. So far, I've been disappointed with Nepali restaurants as they hardly serve more than 2-3 items that are Nepali (mostly it's Momo). Whenever someone asks to go to Nepali places, I'd first have to tell them not to get disappointed if they serve only Indian stuffs.

I am totally okay with it. I am not saying knowing how to spell 'patriotism' makes you smart ass and know what's going on in this thread. All I am saying is there is always a right thing to do at the right place. Opening a Nepali restaurant with Indian name serving mainly Indian dishes, with Indian music, and Indian TV with pictures of Budhha and Mt.everest on walls do not make sense. Some day some American dude (looking at all these) may ask you if Nepal is in India. Then you will need a thousand mouths to explain him the answer.
If you think you do not have enough Nepali dishes to name the restaurant 'Nepali'. Then fine just name the restaurant 'Indian'. Just do not put any pictures of Budhha or Everest on the wall and play as much Indian TV and Indian music as you want. JUST DO NOT GET THE THINGS MIXED UP. Nepali people will of course come to your this 'Indian' restaurant because Nepalese love one another and come to promote their fellow countrymen's business. JUST KEEP IT STRAIGHT.

Why don't you open a new restaurant next to this Everest Indian Restaurant in Irving with your own choice as “Mero Pyaro Nepali Dal Bhat Restaurant” only for Nepali and go out of business within a month!!!
The owner of this restaurant Manoj Rai doesn't want to go out of business soon serving only Nepalese. His ultimate goal is to attract 50 % Indian-Pak-Bangali, 30 % American and 20 % Nepalese customers. Before this restaurant, there was one other restaurant name like, "Him-Chuli Indian Restaurant” in Irving. If you so offend with this name, why don’t you ask Mr. Rai to invest your money on his restaurant business and ask to change the name as you like. Otherwise, just don’t cry on name, you are in America, not in Nepal!!!!!

Couldn't agree more with Bhaojpure01. When, these freaking Indians are all over us claiming over our Everest, soil and even the Birthplace of Buddha, the "Everest Indian" name gives more opportunity for "dhotis" to spread their words. Its just misleading and wrong.
Maybe theres some Indian Investment in his Business.
Wish he had named " Nepali Tajmahal" instead or something like "Swaagatam" "Namaskaar" etc etc. These words are common to both of their customers and would have even attracted "Pakis" and "Bangalis" to some extent.
