hi guys
I have been living here in us since 2008, working in gas staion and 7 eleven. Now i'm tired of working such a low pay job and i have decided to join university. I have bachelor degree from TU with low mark- hardly got pass. the world education evaluated my credential as 2.3 GPA.

Do u guys have been passing through same situation or any gud suggestion please share. any suggestion appreciate. where as my subject is business and my maths and enslish is too poor. Is there any best way that I can join my bachelor and get some years credit. i'm even old. I have 3 years of credit from wes-world education service.
If anybody has passed through such situation pleas share.

I am sure there are other people who will be able to give you better suggestion. Here are my two cents:

I don't think you will be able to get into any university with that kind of grades. How about starting all-over again? Why don't you write an e-mail to the nearest community college and see if you will be able to join then. You could use some of the credits from Nepal and get an associates degree. Then you can think about transferring to a university.

I don't have any personal experience/knowledge in this regard. I am just trying to start a discussion so that other people can suggest you. Good luck buddy!!

Gorkhali keto,

I'm not completely sure, but as a green card holder you might not need to take TOEFL. They might just make you take English prep classes in college.

First I want to encourage you and congratulate you on your thought and decision to go to college. I think you are making a wise choice.

You say that you are an older student who is basically tired of low paying jobs and since you have a green card you are looking for different opportunities. Naturally the fact that you have a green card is a big advantage. You may qualify for many scholorships including Pell grants. In the minimum you can get student loans. Also, since you will pay in-state tuition in whatever State you live, that will also help.

As far as what you are going to study is concerned. Here you need to give a little more thought. You might want to take an aptitude test and see where your strengths lie. Are you technically oriented? Does business come naturally to you? Are you a good sales person?

Where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years down the road? What would you ideally like to do? In America anything is possible with a little hard work.

If your GPA is that low, like Sabai_Nepali_ko_sathi suggested, you might think about starting from the beginning. I wouldn't even reveal that you have a college degree from Nepal. Your GPA from Nepal will just drag you down. Better to start clean with a high GPA. It might take a year longer, but so what? Your GPA is permanently on your resume.
Go to a community college and take a decent load and go through college. It can be a fun experience and you might enjoy it a lot. If you are smart and hard working you can graduate under 4 years.

firstly thanks homeyji and sab_nepali-sathi.

I really appreciate ur suggestion. well I have been living in northern virgina and had tried in NOVA. because of the long route-esl for more than 1 yearseven after spending more than 1 year i was quite sure that they would give me the credit so that I didn't join nova. After then I have been studying englisgh by myself at home.

As per homeyji-Is there any way that I can improve my GPA? wat is the best way to improve my GPA? I have zero knowledge about business and in other technical field. but ofcourse I can labour hard because my aim in life is to get degree any way whether i will get job or not.

Well; First start from local community college, they may put you in ESL and other classes but do not hesitate to do that because no matter what you take will teach you the basic and definitely helps to move on.

They may give you test and see your level of understanding the subject and will put you on appropriate class. Most community college they try to put you on ESL because you are from other country and not only one but it may go series  or english courses which may be frustrating  to you.

You can go to vocational high school and they may have adult classes and ESL class too. Check this too.

Gorkahli keto, if you feel you are an older student and you have previous poor GPA from Nepal that you don't want to show, then instead of going for a 4 year degree, you might want to do a 2 year Associates of Science degree from a community college.

There are many community colleges that give an AS degree in bio-technology, information technology, computer repair, Health Information Management, etc. A 2 year degree like that can get your foot through the door.
