* this is gold wedding attire that is a must and compulsary in set- up trend of south India region, Kerala...imagine how the man have to work hard to pay this sum of gold for the future wife in this wedding needs...

coool. this will help me with my religion class.
i have already brought my points in another forum "sati" about dowry system too.
Can someone tell me when was the origin of dowry? Who was the creator of this form of dowry system just like sati and varna?
Are all these systems came from Laws of Manu?

CrazyHorse, i received this source pic from yahoo grps. pic for share with tittled "Reason not to marry Kerala girl" which is a bit explicit to relate in this kurakani forum, since the gold price has rose up, for ordinary life being a normal pardesi/ general life-man, deal to this pictorals is irrelevant....especialy with this current economy turmoil....about the dowry i think is at another realm to come added with..

If the Federal reserve were to declare gold as "worthless", Gold wouldn't be so expensive. Gold is nothing but an object that has been universally used to store a value. Further, Gold isn't easily available. But if our ancestors ( by that not only Nepali but the Romans, Egyptians and Chinese too ) had sought to declare another substance as equally precious, Gold wouldn't be that highly expensive.

Having said all that, this is too damn sad and I'm really embarrassed. If a girl's family can afford to bid farewell by sending the family's daugther(s) laden with necklaces, jewelleries and precious stones, I don't object but this is ridiculous. Certainly an area where Nepalese society could work on!

The woman on top looks gorgeous but somehow, I feel the excessive jeweleries devalue her worth. Its really sad that women are still valued and weighed as "objects"!

They already did,dollar is no longer a gold standerd(used to be until 1970 i believe) now dollar acts like gold ie reserve currency and gold value and dollare value has inverse relation. i am not expert on monetary poicy or those hi fi stuffs but less advance economies tends to value gold more than in advance economies. alot of good side holding gold as the wealth perservation against hyperinflation or if more frequent fluctation on currency value.

I read a news recently in Nepalnews.com that, Nepal imported gold worth of more than it total remittance in last fiscal year. If that is true, we may be seeing the same in Nepalese bride in future.
