I am planning to go to Nepal in July first week to last week.
I am in search of a good travel agency for My ticketing and I want the cheapest option.I have heard via delhi is the cheapest option but also that they might harass you as there wud be long transit (overnight stay), Guys via Delhi is that best compromise in terms of money that I wud save ? Just want to have some decent suggestions  from you guys .
Thanks,

Jonny

Long (overnight) transit stay is true but it’s the same with any other route.  However, if you take AA or Continental, Delhi is the only stop between US and KTM and because of that you’ll be at KTM within 25-30 hours you leave US.  Also at Delhi airport, you have an option to spent some money and get a business lounge and from my experience it’s worth it.  To my surprise they even have some recline chairs at regular lounge where one can sleep comfortably.  About Delhi airport service, I can't say how was 2-3 years ago but now it has improved a lot.  I like their service better than many Middle East airports like Abu Dhabi or Doha.  Most of the employees at Delhi airport are young around 25 -30 years and they were very professional.  It is going through a big construction so many areas are not yet open and because of that you have limited space to walk but I'll still fly via Delhi again.

I agree with what Jonny said. Even though, the customs gave me some problem while I went to Nepal last year, but I did enjoy the business lounge while coming back just paying $20.

I have had to go through all the trouble of claiming baggage at Delhi airport . The carriers (AA, Indian Airlines, Air India ) dont have parternship to connecting flights to Kathmandu. Travel agents arrange ticekts somehow, but you have to claim your luggage in India, and then again check in for Kathmandu.

Motekaji, I went the same route but had no trouble with baggage.  Once I landed at Delhi, a guy from Indian Airlines came and asked me if I was a transit passenger to KTM.  I said yes, and then he asked for my luggage tag from AA, ticket to KTM and passport.  After some time the same guy came with my boarding pass to KTM and a new luggage tag.  I didn't collect nor identify my luggage at Delhi and it arrived at KTM on good condition.  FYI, I had two seperate ticket and I bought both AA and Indian Airlines ticket via internet.

I agree with you about taking passport.  I was little worried on giving the guy my passport but they were doing the same for all transit passenger including US passport holders.  But it's not just at Delhi, couple of years ago my gulf air flight got cancelled at Bahrain so they gave me a hotel near airport and even there the guy at that hotel took my passport.  At least they guy at Delhi airport had a name tag and was working for airlines.

For July 1st week you can go via JFK- Singapore - KTM for about 1000$ roundtrip. Check with president travels.

I also find it interesting that some person takes your passport and disappears. What if there is a fake guy with identity card? (which may happen specially in India.)

That's not very professional. Why do they need the passport? The ticket should have your name on it.

Are you Indian?

Biruwa, Yorajan asked a suggestion about travel via Delhi and I shared my experience with him.  What the f*** is your problem asking me if I am an Indian.  Get a life dude, if you can't help or don’t’ have any suggestion that shut off.  I don't know why they take your passport, I don't work there.  And when I talk about being professional, I was talking about the people that work there.  They were very helpful and respectful to me and my family.  Read my comment before putting your smart ass comment.
