call to vacate its stay order, the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday gave continuity
to its earlier interim order staying the retirement of the eight Nepal Army (NA)
Brigadier Generals.
A joint bench of the Justices Anup Raj Sharma and Prem Sharma said that
defendants failed to furnish bases for rejecting the recommendation made by the
Army Headquarters to extend the terms of eights NA generals.
Earlier, the Defence Ministry had filed a writ at SC demanding to scrap the
interim order that stayed the government decision to retire eight NA generals.
The government on March had given retirement to the eight NA generals,
quashing the recommendations made by the NA to extend their terms.
24, the eight brigadier generals moved the Supreme Court challenging the
government decision to pension them off.
