There are so many factors that are akined with that behaviour whether u accept or deny.To mention, some of them are feeling of financial difference with ppl around them, feeling of inferiority, social status, inability to cope with new folks and preference to be on ur own.

sajha977,

I am unsure if it works, but try as follows:

1. List your priorities, sort out the subjects in which you have great amount of knowledge. Work on them, the hidden clarity in your voice soon becomes apparent.

2. Try to talk to people who share similar interests.

3. Learn to say NO. Never retreat to something you think is incorrect.

4. Read a lot of books, make your read so diversified that you know both Mary magdalene and Hugh Heffner.

5. Practice speaking alone, imitate body language from your idols.

6. Dress properly, buy cheap but wear rich. It makes a lot of difference.

Sathi mero seems to be well acquained with cocaine and weeds, must have served a sentence for dope peddling. Bet he used them in gaining power and morality to negate the post-sodomy effect by the inmates.

LOL Favre!

well sajha977, if you really want to be sociable, then practice makes perfect. Like Jet_Favre pointed out, you have to diversify your portfolio. Know a wide range of topics that you can talk to people about. If it is not knowledge but your 'shyness' that is the problem, then you need to practice being open to people.
In accordance with Favre's bullets, I would put forth some more ideas you can try to build your confidence:

A simple thing as saying hi to people passing by. And smile.

Try to start small talk with strangers. It could be someone you meet in the line at Walmart or a guy sitting next to you on a bus/plane. Bring up a conversation. At least even if it is awkward, mostly likely you will never see them. Also if the conversation gets started, you can simply ask them what they do. People love to talk about themselves. So most of the time you have to be a good listener if you want to be a good conversationalist.

Observe! Observe how people respond to different things. Know when you see the conversation getting boring to the person and talk about something else. Comment something nice about the person. It could be what they are wearing.

Confidence and more confidence. You don't want to tremble or give a wimpy handshake when you meet a person. Talk clearly, and confidently. But never with arrogance.

Well, there are still a ton of things but it's good that you have realized your problem and are working towards solving it. Good luck my friend.

Peace.
