What happens if my H1B expires after applying for I-140? Does the I-140 has to be approved/accepted or as long as I apply for it before H1B expires, I am good?

extension of H1-B is possible beyond 6th and 7th years provided that your labor certification has been pending for more than 360 days.

this means that if you are in the process anywhere after labor then you can apply for H1-B extension
