Hi guys!

I am new in US and looking for cheap and affordable health insurance for a family of three which includes me, my spouse and my kid. I had tried several things but I have no clue on what to get and what is right. I am willing to spend up to (+/-)$200.00/month. When I was searching online, there are so many things that I had hard time understanding. Especially to me, they seem vague as I do have no clue on what they are talking about.

Can anybody please guide me in the right direction?

Thank you.

Hey there, If you are trying to buy ur own health insurance , Blue Anthem or Humana would be affordable . However, I dont think you can get insurance for your whole family for $200.Health insurance is pretty much like any other insurance. The higher the detuctible , the lower the premium.Try to call Humana, they have a plan specially designed for people who do not use health insurance unless they really have to( like we nepalese in most cases.)If you bought those plans, the most money you would pay for your whole family is $6000 year, anything over that amount would be paid in full by Humana. As we dont use doctors that often , this would be an ideal plan for us  as the premium are really low.

I hope i did not confuse u more. Chao.

It was like thrree years back, my wife and two kids had Blue shield Blue cross which was about $300.00 per month. As garibkochhora said it depends on how much deductible you want to pay, on your age. I would rather pay little bit more on premium, by the way for the time being, you may try short term insurance.

Dear Lawrence,

If you are a student currently attending any college or university in the United States you can get affordable health insurance from www.isoa.org. Their coverage is reasonable and deductible is low when you visit your college student health center in case of sickness. I belive their lowest coverage starts from $31 per month if you are under 24.

Thanks Yekloyatri. I am new to this country and currently working. Unfortunately, my employer does not provide any health benefit at all.
