If we believe in capitalism, then we should not have a problem with this. It is obviously worth the opportunity cost to the girls working there otherwise they would not be working there. It is worth it for the customers to go spend some money there since it's obviously worth it for them. As for the owner, it is worth it for him as well.

The market is driven by demand. Who are we to have problem with market demand. As long as it's a self sustaining system and people work or go there willingly then it's a waste of time to indulge in big talks at their expense.

Human beings are evolving. Society is evolving. When people evolve they make compromises with their surroundings in order to make the best possible life for themselves. The girl from village sees lack of opportunities so comes to the capital. There, due to lack of other opportunities starts working at a cabin restaurant where she gets paid enough to fulfil her needs. If this opportunity was not available she'd probably die of hunger. If she had children they would die too from starvation. What an ugly thought. But thanks to these cabin restaurants all the girls without much opportunity have a place to work and make a living. Thanks to these cabin restaurants, some guys who have no social skills to interact with girls have a chance to go and interact with girls. This prepares them for better relationships later.

When I was in Nepal last year. I made sure to visit quite a few cabin restaurants and left huge tips to the girls working there about Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 as a show of support representing all the guys in US who support their hardship in life and are willing to donate some money as a sign of their support. I was no exception. It was nice to meet with them. They were friendly and doing their job.  I treated them  with respect and they gave me the same in return. If they were technically savvy we'd have exchanged emails and be still chatting online but unfortunately they don't have that opportunity.

My only suggestion to guys like the author is please don't be so cruel as to try to disrespect their job - their only way of survival. Let them live the way that works for them. They may not be born with a silver spoon as yourself or have many opportunity as yourself so try to look at it from their perspectives.

Ratobhaley, I agree with you. yes its not their fault to be there. And i should also add that, many of them joined the profession just because of easy money and no hard work.

I dont disrespect their jobs nor the workers, just it was my first experience and I wrote down the way I felt and also one thing to mention, I wrote that article 4 yrs back, Ive not even edited a single word and of course, ive learnt so mething new in this four yours.

Here, I would not hesitate to admit that, I completely agree with your idea. Nepal would be definitely  wonderful  place with the people like you but alas, its not so...!!

Forget about Nepal, even in the advanced west society, such things are not taken 100% positively. The only thing I was trying to focus on article was how difficult is them to face real society. maybe I was not successful in doing so.
