The add on the home page "Come celebrate Diwali" should be changed to "Come Celebrate Tihar". Nepalese celebrate Tihar not "Diwali". Could the admin please make the change? It will be really appreciated.

Exactly Literate fool and Wretch! In nepali language, it is either "Tihar" or "Deepawali" and "diwali" means kul deuta ko pooja| The use of the word "Diwali" for "Tihar" is misleading.

Whatever happened to "Afno bhasha afno bhesh". The appropriate term for 'Kul Deuta ko Puja' is Dewali (they-waa-li). By the way, does anybody know if we did Dewali right around Tihar or it depends upon which Kul one belongs to?

Hey Kevin, It depends on which "kul" you belong to. In my family it was every four years around the month of Bhadra. For some people it happens twice a year and for some it is once a year.

Kalopoolbasi, Now I remember. Our's was celebrated once in every three years in Mangsir and it was also called 'Goth-puja' (गोठपुजा).

Complaints here are duly noted. Just spoke with the organizer. With apologizes for this unintentional mistake she is having them changed to correctly say Tihar. She also asks please not to take it out on the wonderful admin/web master of Sajha.com. The corrected banner and poster reflecting the Nepali name of the festival will be e-mailed tonight to Sajha.

Thank you ssNY. It's good to know that the change is going to be made. We understand that with changing times words take on new meanings and new words get added to the lingo, but in the mean time we should also focus on preserving, as much as we possibly can, what we already have.
