You are underpaid no matter where you are working now (City, Company as long as you are in US). Now you already have 2 years of experience so start looking for better opportunity...

Jsut a word for MR.BOND You added a good thread, I do not think you have not googled for your base salary. If you have g.c. it is time to move ahead else if you are awaiting for a g.c. then get it first.

To apply G.C., your salary must be above market rate otherwise USCIS will reject your application during your LC process

Either I'm dumb or else the question is not right He said: " I have a bachelor degree in EE from Nepal. I am doing masters in EE here in US". Have you completed your masters degree? How did you get a Job with a degree from Nepal if you don't have a degree from the US? Are you doing CPT? Probably not since you're saying that you've been with the company for two years. It's not making sense to me. If you got a job from Nepal's degree then it's the right salary. Next, what is your area of focus? Automation may mean several things to me. Software/Mechanical/Power, and EE may mean Power/Circuits/Solid State/Communications... which one is yours? There are too many variables in your question to decide whether you are underpaid or not. Please clarify the above questions and then we all can decide. And as Thapap dai would say-- what do I know? :o)

No i dont agree to it fountaindew even if he has got a degree from nepal he does not deserve just 43000. you should consider all the indians who do not have us degrees and have come here In h1 are working and are getting paid pretty good. most prob he is not in f1 thats why he is working as well as studying . Id say if pepople with EE digree just get 45000 p. a thna whats the fun of studying so hard all those years one might just become a tech or something else and earn better.

Sidd, I believe in data, and right now I don't have enough data to make the call. First of all I don't know what his EE degree is in, what his (US equivalent) GPA level and project experience is, and on what terms and conditions he was hired by the company. Indians earn more because they can BS and have a huge network. From what I know, starting salary for a US bachelors in EE degree in the US is 55K, provided that you're close to the median and direct hire. If consultants are giving you the job, then you will be receiving a lot less and 43K sounds okay to me if that's the case. I would like some more details before I can judge, but in all fairness, if you have a Nepal's degree, and hired by a consultant, then 43K sounds okay to me. But like my other friends said, geographic location could be a factor as well. If I were in his shoes, I would get my masters degree as soon as possible, and then move over to other company with better salary and benifits. Once again thapap dai, what do I know?? hoina?

I agree with fountaindew. If he got a job based on his EE degree from Nepal thru a consultant ( most likely indian consultant), 43K is not bad deal. It's hard to see that companies hire a person who does not have a degree from US.

Fountain, I am GC holder. I have 3 more courses to go for masters in EE (majoring in power electronics). I think I am heavily underpaid based on my degree and experience. My currrent GPA in masters is 3.9. My bachelor degree is equivalent to US bachelor degree. This is based on credential evaluation. I am a direct hire from this company. I think I was more defensive during interview coz I didn't have US degree and they came up with this salary range. Thanks for any feedback

Mr. Bond, I strongly agree with FountainView. He is absolutely right. a lot of factors come in to play when it comes to salary. Since you have NOT finished your Masters yet, my suggestion to you finish it first. By the time u are done you will have few yrs. of exp. plus the advance degree. Then you can ask for what you want. You were lucky to have a job with Nepal's EE degree (no offense). Furthermore, why are you asking this question after two yrs? You have a bright future. Yes, for the moment you are slightly underpaid, but not heavily. siddtg69us, you said "Id say if pepople with EE digree just get 45000 p. a thna whats the fun of studying so hard all those years one might just become a tech or something else and earn better." The fun is you spent in Nepali Currency and you now you are earning in $$$. Ain't that fun? And not to mention, sh*t happens sometimes, we'll just have to move on :) 2oYrOl'Vrgn, Does your emplyer make anything at all? Since you make $70k/yr working at a convinient store. I guess, your boss hasn't seen the sales report for such a long time ;) Just trying to kill my Sunday morning guys. No offense :)
