I dont know what sort of implications does pound reaching a benchmark of $2 has. But I think it is not good news. Although i am not an economist.
.In the long term, the pound will stabilize again and have no major effects. But in the short run, it is a great news to the average British citizens wanting to buy American goods or wanting to travel to America. They will get more bang for their buck!
However, as an Economist, I can tell you that there's nothing for the British or the Americans to worry about in the long run. British imports in the US might be a couple dollars more expensive, and American exports to Britain may be a couple pounds cheaper. That's all.
