Lootekukur and Cleopatra, I really enjoyed listening to the melodies you posted ... particularly the Shammi Kapoor one "Isharon Isharon mein" and the unforgettable "Zindagi kaisi hai paheli" from Anand. It's one of my favorities and I sing it often when I feel down. It's very uplifting! Thanks for posting. Sandhurst Lahure, If you penned that yourself, you're quite the playwright! :-) If not, then a very humorous choice indeed.

SimpleGal, Huh? You on line now, ho? :-) did the above skit for some entertainment.. The first four Cleopatra lines are for real - I lifted these out straight from my Shakespeare compendium. :-) Hey, the songs you mention above are my favs too. I am into oldies, hugely, both English and Hindi/Nepali - songs from my dad's time!. The Anand one is lovely - the other I love from this film is: Door Jab Din Dhal Jayey,, etc.. Such a lovely song. I know or have listened to maybe, not more than a few dozen new numbers.. and the last Hindi film I watched was SILSILA, that too some 15 years ago.. :-) 3 hours is very long for me to sit through - I just don't have the patience required for it. Yes, I'm online now Sandhurst Lahure, I just got sick of working on my dissertation and decided to "take a break" and venture into sajha. This is the first Christmas/New Years that I have spent around campus. It's mighty boring. I've always been off to either Europe or out of state during the holidays. I also like "door kabhi jab din dhal jaye" ... In fact, Anand has beautiful tracks. I am not much into English songs except occasionally. More into English literary stuff than songs, I guess. Yeah, sitting through 3 hrs of hindi movies can be a nightmare. But I don't mind it when the movie is good. I recently saw Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehena, which interestingly enough was a pretty good one. I usually detest Shahrukh Khan but he's not bad in this one. But I am big time into the oldies. One hardly expects someone my age to be so besotted with old movies/songs/literature. I guess I'm quite an oddball in that case. :P Btw, I had written you an email via sajha but got an undeliverable message. :-)

SimpleGal, Thanks.. :)) Oh, I just found out that I have mucked up my email account with sajha... oh, the IT-illeterate me! I did wonder why the emails were not coming, as they used to. I did have a few people writing to me now and then, through Sajha but that stopped some time ago.. no wonder why! Disclaimer: I am the worst correspondent you have ever met. I am hopeless at keeping in touch, and my less impressive IT skill adds to that. :)) Door Din Dhal Jayey... oh, I love that song - there is something about Mukesh's voice, soft but sharp - it cuts to the core of the song so spectacularly. The mood of the song is only matched by his true craftmanship. Marvellous. I have not seen the film though - they say, it's one of those Rajesh Khanna films that you wouldn't want to miss out on. Incentive for me there whenever I have got time on my own then. I also love Rafi and Kishore - the two indispensable maestros whose contribution to the Hindi music industry is truly staggering.
