So you want a son? Or will a daughter do? I was at the Nepali "Tihar" party other day and we were having this conversation which eventually lead to the topic of 'what do you want - a boy or a girl'. One of them clearly said - yes I wanted a son. To which on other said - What? In this day and age, you still think like this? Then the conversation carried on with each one having his say. My view was - Each one has his own priority and I dont care if some wanted a son and some wanted a daughter and other did not care about a son or daughter. And i think there is nothing wrong to think that yesssss I want a son! Why should one conform to the politically correct view of saying - "oh it does not matter...." WHEN IT DOES MATTER to most Nepali people? What say you?

i don't think preference is an issue. having kids is a matter of responsibility- plalin and simple. maybe what they should be asking is "am i ready to have [a] kid/kids?" :) won't u agree?

Let me make it clear first. i am a very selfish person. :P so given a choice, i would surely go for my preferences. i want a daughter. i even pray to god these days (although i am single :P), to give me a daughter. the reason being simple. daughters tend to love their parents more than sons. :P. although i love my parents more than any daughter would, but i still like to have a daughter. here is what my daughter should be like. 1) eyes like mine :p. deep engaging and craving for love. :P :P 2) nose like my soon to be wife's :P. i assume she will have cute nose unlike mine :P 3) lips just like mine, red, luscious but little thinner than mine :P 4) height like mine. again i assume my soon to be wife's will be shorter than me. 5) hands and legs like my wife's again. long, silky and smooth :P 6) boobs and ass just like my wife's. cute round ass and not so small boobs :P :P but not so big either :P 7) smile just like my wife's :P 8) hair just like mine. long, stout and silky. :P DAUGHTER ROCKS!.....Son # 2...:P LooTe

"I simply mean that there is a difference between one "moron" and a society that constitutes majority of illiterate people (in your standards, maybe, morons) that has been living the particular way of life for centuries because of the ignorance. " At the risk of of being argumentative and derailing the topic, not that that hasn't already happened, we are not talking about illiterate people here. If you read the first post again it appears the conversation discussed there took place in the US of A or someplace outside of Nepal and chances are if you made it this far from Nepal, you are not one of the "illiterate" masses and cannot justifiably use any excuses or arguments related to illiteracy. If someone who has access to opportunities in the West thinks a son is better than a daughter, then to say they are a moron would be a vast understatement. If the word moron is offensive, would "seriously lacking judgement" be more palatable? If you are bringing in the example of "illiterate people" in Nepal, who incidentally I do not think of as morons, I see no purpose to it other than to use them as a straw to make yourself appear as an enlightened thinker. "I-am-oh-so-not-them. I could never think like them". Enough of this . I get the gist of your argument, and don't disagree with it, but I just feel differently about the build up to it, and especially the subtle hint of illiteracy back home as an excuse for that kind of thinking here.

No preferences. Either a son or a daughter will do. The only thing I don't want is someone who's in between a 'daughter' and a 'son'.

Thank you for your input and explanation, Captain. Yes, the setting was focused on the talk among Nepali in the US. I, however, looked at the bigger picture and what I said was majority of Nepali prefer a boy to a girl because, for them, the male counts more than the female; and our preference shouldn't be dominated by the we have been taught to think. Maybe, you can give better explanation of society and the complexities in it, but I think we are on the same boat. And it is perfectly okay with me if you see the "subtle hint of illiteracy back home as an excuse for that kind of thinking here."

NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU TRY ITS HARD TO GET RID OF YEARS N YEARS OF SOCIETIAL THINKING - - IT STILL DOES MATTER TO A LOT OF NEPALI PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE SONS AND IT WILL STILL TAKE MANY MORE YEARS FOR THAT TO CHANGE HOWEVER, AS LONG AS WE DO NOT INDULGE IN DISCRIMINATION THE REST WILL FOLLOW ANYWAYZ IN MY CASE ME N MY FIANCE WANT TWO SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS - - WE WANT THE BEST OF BOTH SIDES, HOWEVER, IF DUE TO NATURE'S WAY WE END UP HAVING FOUR DAUGHTERS OR FOUR SONS ITS ALL GUD :) :)

Drugs addicated can be treated,,, or crue,, but same sex people are animals, the union of male and female only exit for human cycle. gayism is hell and anyone can prefer death than live as being a gay.

WELL,A LESBIAN DAUGHTER IS FAR BETTER THAN A ADDICTED DAUGHTER.A ADDICTED DAUGHTER KILLS HERSELF AND HER PEOPLE TOO.BUT A LESBIAN DAUGHTER IS A NORMAL HUMAN WITH A KIND-HEARTED.SHE CAN BE THE BEST ENCOURAGER FOR EVERYONE,CAN MAKE HAPPY EVERYONE.

Loote, you wouldn't want your daughter to have paws do you??:) On a serious note, really wanted a daughter. Used to think exactly as Loote does..that daughter loves their parents more..that's what I still believe !! However, whether you want a son or a daughter, once he/she is in your arms looking up at you, your heart will just melt and will love him/her with all your heart !!! It won't matter what you wanted !! He/she will be your life...and a reason to live !!
