Almost all the supermarkets in Nepal accept credit cards. I mean bhatbhateni, namaste, saleways etc.... Also travel agents, hotels and other business will accept the credit cards too. Go ahead an spend your money the way you like it. No, I do not know how much they charge though.

The last time I was in Nepal, I only used my credit card. I had a visa card with me and they didn't charge me any extra fees. On top of that, you get a better exchange rate if you use your credit card. As for where you can use your card, obviously you can't use it as often as you can in the US, but a lot of restaurants, shops take cards. Have fun.... Me and My Crazy Head...

. As a buyer or credit card holder it does not cost anything.. As a seller or cash collector it cost 3% - 5 % depends on how much you collect in a month or in a year. It also depends on what kind of credit card you have. They all have different rates. I have Mastercard and I used many times in Automatic Cash machine or paid my bill at the supermarkets, I did not notice any strange charges in my statement.

c-redit card. OK? as someone has already said, they should not charge you any extra money directly. but, contrary to what luckydude observed, they may charge you little more than exchange rate but it depends from place to place. Their rates: Rs 65-70 ~= $1

Sellers do not charge anything but most credit card company charge you around 2-3% of the amount you spent in a foreign country, EXCEPT Captial One (that I know of). You have to call Capital One and let them know in which country you are planning to use the card.

Nepaliketo, Yep you can use your cc wherever you want where accepted and as many time you want. Also, if you have debit card you can withdarw NPR in KTM ATMs. Some bank offer 10k per transaxtion and 30k a day or some bank 30K a day-like Nabil bank. But rate? I do not know either. Now you have two option. Enjoy your cc or dc in NPL. Do not feel bad when you see the statement back in US though. :)
