Frens'
My OPT expired May 10th '06. Since then I have applying to few Universities for my Masters. Things have not been going good. Few of them had rejected my applications (citing various reasons) and few of them (who I'm hopeful of getting admitted to) are just going tooo slow.
My question is, I know I have 60 days after my OPT expire to get I-20 and be in status so by Jul 10th, I need to have an I-20. But now I think I just can't rely on these remaining schools to get me my I-20 on time.
Is there any university/school that can give me I-20 relatively quick i.e by July 9th without much hassle so that I can remain on status? Any information will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Peace
Join Kaplan for GRE class they will issue you I-20 right away for 6 months.
what's ur major. i know there are few schools which don't require GREs and hence getting admission is relatively easy.
1) wichita state
2) university of south dakota
3) st. cloud, MN
there are more. go for community colleges too, however getting visa will be difficult.
i know there are desi consultants aplenty these days. they may help you to get into some sort of consltancy jobs that will help you fetch the H1.
hope it helps.
Good luck

st. cloud won't issue I-20 without GRE for Engineering
I guess some universities allow you to take grad classes for a semester. Don't know if that's gonna help you much.
Good Luck!
P.S: If you tend to apply in the same university.
oh i did not know that. thanks ricky for the clarification. but i remember one of my frens sucked at GRE, got a pretty dismal score, yet got into it. so i thought getting into it is easy although there could be other criteria as well, which i m not sure of.
but 1) and 2) certainly don't need GRE. i m dead sure of that.

yea, loote 1 & 2 doesn't need GRE but I don't know the processing time to issue I-20. It would be good to be in safe side and join Kaplan class.
Thanks for the replies frens. My undergrad major was Finance. I was applying for MBA. I have already given GMAT. Can I still take GRE and get I20 in Kaplan?? Thanks.
I had the same problem My OPT expired on may 10th. I had only until July 10th to get I-20 or at least, acceptance letter. So, I applied to a private college for MBA and got my acceptance letter today. It took me 2 weeks at the most to get the process done.
i was in the same situation and i had to take the GMAT 3 times.
Guys, post your GMAT scores if you wish to share it.. my final and highest score was 510
right now i am in Nepal, hahahah ... im not sure why i came here, i shoudl have just maybe stayed in the US. now i have to apply for a new F-1 VISA. ...

Feb 14,
Apply to
www.ualr.edu. If you have a GMAT, it should be a great college for you, and their MBA program is pretty good as well.
Try on
www.rmu.edu. I think only GMAT is enough for MBA. admission.
Hey puppify,
My opt expired on June 6th, 06. So can I get an I-20 for the classes starting on Oct or Nov before my 60 day grace period gets expired? Is getting I-20 means good enough to maintain status even if the class is starting like one month after the grace period expires or you have to actually get an I-20 and start class before the grace period? Would you please help me? Thanks!
You have to get I-20 within 60 days and your class has to start within 5 month of OPT eding date.
